Frogs?

Flashlight and a .22. I used a little short Rossi pump and loaded solid .22LR cartridges that I had flattened the noses of a bit with a file stroke. That seemed to anchor the frogs better, less reflex jumps that way with not-quite-perfect shots. Irrigation ponds hereabouts are good for a few big bullfrogs apiece every so often.

There's an irrigation pond close to the airport (one paved strip) where I used to live that we checked regularly. One night we discovered we had company- an antidrug task force thought we were who they were looking for after we pulled out there and got out with our gear- big surprise on everyone's part, fortunately no one hurt... we decided not to hunt the airport pond that night tho.

We always used a gig. Big bull frogs will break the tines off the little 3 prong gigs after a while. Need something heavier and a warning DO NOT gig a snake because then you got to get a stick to beat the thing off your gig. Just wondering, do you old boys down there in Louisiana that catch em buy by hand slither along the banks on your belly sorta like John Kerry sneaking up on deer? :D

Got 10 big ,high school biology disecting size, croakers last night with a piece of bamboo fashioned into a gig sprear, but my mom took them away from me when I turned my back

Once shot one witha 20 gauge

at about 30 feet, when I was a kid...after we finished picking frog outa our hair, decided that was a bad idea :what:
