What was the first automatic weapon that you fired? My first was a Vector Arms Full Size Uzi that I was given the opportunity to fire at a range. It jammed twice on me in 100 rounds. Is this normal for Uzis and machine guns in general?
> Is this normal for Uzis
No. Was it new? Was it dry?
>and machine guns in general?
No more so than for semi's. At least in my experience. However, they do receive more wear so that might have something to do in a general sense.
I do not know if it was new or dry or not. Perhaps it was not cleaned properly as I rented a Smith and Wesson Semi Auto at the same range just before firing the Uzi and the Smith and Wesson's slide got stuck after firing it a few times because it was absoutely filthy. Perhaps the Uzi was filthy too... I also saw that same Uzi eject a few live cartriges (instead of firing them) when someone else rented it... Perhaps the Uzi was filthy...
The first full auto I ever fired was an M2 50 cal. I nearly ____! It was awesome.
The Uzi if anything close to properly maintained should be 100%, just a great weapon. Of course it could have been some sort of Uzi clone too, who knows what the quality is like on some of them.
First full auto was a C9 (the 9mm Sterling/Patchet SMG). But that was not as much fun as the next FA gun that I fired. That was the FNC2 (FNC1A2), a heavy barreled FN FAL on bi-pod ...
The first full-auto I fired was a Thompson. It was followed shortly by an M3 (Grease Gun). About a week later I shot an MP5.
All these guns were rented at The Bullet Stop on Sandtown Road in Marietta, Georgia in 1988. I was passing through on the way to Florida the first time and stopped again on the way back.
The range had a Ferret, a small Brit APC in front of it. I liked that too.
My first was a M3A1 at the tender age of 10. I've fired an Uzi that was dry and dirty and didnt want to run right. Once cleaned and lubed, it was fine. There's nothing like a mag or ten on full auto to relieve stress.
I first fired one of those freon powered BB guns that a friend had, as well as those fully auto BB guns at the carnival. First with gunpowder was, I think, the M249 SAW.
NFA guns are much more fun outside of a "structured" environment. Exploded a hostile beaver once with a friend's sten.
For you PETA folks, it really was trying to get me.
