I've got a Bushmaster A2 on layaway. Just wondering what folks are having the best luck with as far as bullet weight in the full length barrel with 1/9 rate of twist, 55grn, 62grn, 77grn?

For 1/9 twist, you can ususally use anything between 55g and 69g.

The faster twist rates (ie, 1/7) are best for weights heavier than 69g. The slower twist rates (ie, 1/12) are best for light varmit bullets, less than 55g.

That's about right

For 1/9 twist, you can ususally use anything between 55g and 69g

Your results may vary. I had a bushy that loved 45 grain Federal Vmax's.

A 1:9 will shoot the lighter bullets like 45-55 gr. It will shoot up to 69 gr bullets very well. 75s, 77s and 80s will shoot better from a 1:8 or 1:7 barrel.
