In yesterday's Mirror ( http://mirror.unco.edu/ ) there was a full page ad that went as follows:

FOR SALE

It's called the Streetsweeper.

(Then there's this picture: http://world.guns.ru/shotgun/streetsweeper.jpg )

This is a twelve-gauge shotgun with a 12-round rotating cylinder. This weapon can fire all 12 rounds in less than 15 seconds. The design came from South Africa, where it was used to enforce Apartheid. It could reduce your front door to toothpicks while you're reading this paragraph.

George Bush turned his back on public safety and allowed the assault weapons ban to expre. Now he has the support of the NRA, and this weapon is back on the market and soon to be back on the streets. Good news for gangs and terrorists. Bad news for cops.

If that makes you feel safer, vote for George Bush.

Otherwise, vote for John Kerry. Senator Kerry is a gun owner and a hunter. He has put a hunter's bill of rights into his campaign literature. He has also consistently stood up to to the intense political pressure of the NRA and opposed the sale of these devastating weapons.

Paid for by Frank S. Peters and Margie Musgrave. [email protected].

Gag me.

PS: Now I'm all confused. I thought it was Bush who was all about the 'scare tactics' and 'politics of fear' or whatever other meaningless hypocrite BS the left has paraded out this week, thrown against the wall and hoped would stick. One week and it's bye bye Kerry. Bye bye Democrats. Enjoy exile. Be sure and send us a postcard.

anyone know some good places to submit that email address of his to to have him spammed to hell?

I posted the ad verbatim (except for the picture part). The email was included. Spamming is not a good idea. If you have something reasonable to say, by all means let him know.

HyWayMan - That's right! Tyranny deterance is not a "sporting purpose." Maybe F-Troop would be interestred in calling on these two who were offering one for sale. :neener:

I thought the BATmen reclassified the Street Sweeper as a destructive device, making it subject to the same (or greater) restrictions as machine guns - the AWB expiration would have NO effect on this.

Lies, lies, and more lies on the part of the Left. Considering what depths of fraud, deception, and depravity they'll sink to in order to "win" the election, one has to wonder what kind of America they envision.

Not the kind I'd like to live in . . . :(

Ask him what NFA form it will be transfered on, and if he doesn't respond, then call the BATFE NFA branch and turn the paper in and the seller for illegal sale of a Destructive Device. If he can't produce the forms it is a felony punishable by 10 years in pound-you-in-the-ass prison, and certainly probable cause for an ATF search of his premises. Then that liberal idiot can see for himself how many 'loopholes' there are and how lenient the court system is on weapons traffickers.

Senator Kerry is a gun owner and a hunter. He has put a hunter's bill of rights into his campaign literature.

So what!?

He can put whatever he wants in the literature. His voting record says something different.

12 geese shot by John Kerry on his latest trip to convince hunters of his manly prowess.

Geez....

I sent an email to the editor of the paper.... It goes a little something like this:

Sir:

I am writing concerning an ad that was taken out in your publication. Here is the text of the ad:

<snipped text of the ad for brevity's sake!>

Does your publication do any fact-checking of the articles that are going to be in its pages? A simple search would have brought back information concerning this particular firearm. It was classified by the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms as a "destructive device" effective March 1, 1994. As such, the expiration of the ban on semi-automatic rifles does not have any effect on the availability of this shotgun whatsoever. It does not mean that "this weapon is back on the market and soon to be back on the streets." In fact, the National Firearms Aact makes provisions for the sale and transfer of "destructive devices" by filling out the appropriate forms and paying the appropriate fees! The NFA also provides for a $10,000 fine and up to 10 years in prison for violating its provisions. Since the ad in your paper doesn't come right out and say that Mr Peters and Ms Musgrave do NOT have a street sweeper for sale, I certainly hope for their sake that the ATF doesn't decide to get involved. They are quite likely to find out just how "forgiving" the ATF can be about firearms violations.

So please, if you wish to have any credibility, make sure that what is being printed in your paper has at least some truth to it. Regardless of who paid for the ad, it reflects badly on your publication to allow such blatant lies to be prominetly displayed on its pages.

Thank you.

I had to write them

These weren't covered under the AWB that just expired. IF they are again legal do you know where I can get one and how much they will sell for?
Thanks,
Your Friend CT

P.S. Shouldn't you be out registering folks at the graveyard or signing up crack addicts for Kerry instead of paying for lies in the paper?
