I've tried to find a 1911 with a light(er)-weight alloy frame and a stainless slide but have not had any luck. Is there is such a thing?

I've found the Colt Lightweight Commander, but it is obviously the Commander-sized version.

It does not have to be a current production gun.

Thanks all!

mesinge2: Thanks for pointing that one out, but I'm looking for one with a stainless slide. Those appears to have blued steel slides unless I'm overlooking one...

Ah, sorry. I missed the stainless part.

It would cost extra but if you want a stainless-looking slide with a blue frame Colt will Hard Chrome the slide for a fee.

I have a Colt Lighweight Government and I chose it over a comparable steel frame model because I liked the overall feeling and balance that the alloy frame, along with the full length slide, gave the pistol. If you can't find it in stainless I would say give the blued version a try and maybe some day get the slide hard chrome plated.

Colt makes a lightweight Gov't model. Kimber has a couple of full sized alloy framed 1911s (CDP II, Tactical II, and there may be a couple of others I'm missing), S&W had scandium framed full size 1911s for a while (I think they were called 1911 PDs).

If cost is not an issue, Wilson Combat, Nighthawk Custom, and Volkmann Precision all build custom 1911s with alloy frames if you select that option.
