I have an old crab apple tree in my yard, it hasn't been pruned since I've lived here and the apples range in size from small unripe greens to pretty big reds. I was just thinking whatever I don't use to throw into the woods for the deer (not baiting btw, never saw that as an ethical means of taking deer, probably why I still haven't got one ). I swear some guys I know don't hunt, they have an appointment with a 10 pointer at 5am on opening day, gotta think at least some of those guys who fill their tag on opening day year after year are putting their finger on the scale or are just very lucky, I'm sure some though are scouting and putting the time in so not trying to take nothing from those guys, I just know some are tipping the scales in their favor because I've been told as much.
Anyways, I was thinking if I had a bunch of those lil steel yard markers/flags that surveyors use for mapping/marking I could get a bundle of em and stick different size apples on them at various ranges. I'm thinking about 50-60 lil stakes with an apple on top staggered along about a 200 yard lane and a 222rd bulk brick of Winchester .22lr could be a good time.
I wish I could post a pic to give a visual but you guys can probably imagine.....
