Been having fun with two 870's. One was a slug gun that I converted with a 28" barrel + Rem Chokes & Jack West adjustable stock.

The other is an 870 Competition Trap that I bought at the Kittery Trading Post in Maine yesterday. It is a single shot pump with a gas port and heavy cylinder to counter felt recoil. Only 5,000 or so were made in the early 80's. Barrel is full choke and crushes birds to dust.

I shot one Sat and one Sunday. Can't decide which to make my steady trap gun? I have a Langer O/U but for some reason I just like a pump action. Can't beat that sound......

Very nice.

Since the top one is a single shot, shoot trap singles with that one. Drop the comb on the bottom one so it shoots fairly flat, go with an appropriate choke and stop over at a skeet, 5 stand, or sporting clays field.

Shooting a variety of games is fun.

870

My favorite skeet gun is a 870 20ga Wingmaster. I like the challenge of the additional skill needed to shoot skeet with a pump. My average is 22-23. I use the IC choke that came with it. Recently bought a Browning BPS 410 also for skeet. Used a 1100 Sporting 410 with success but again like the idea of using a pump. The little challenges make it more fun for me.

:):):)

I absolutely LOVE my 870 Express 28" shotgun! I use it mostly for skeet, these days. I actually just shot my first and only perfect round with it this past spring. After you put a few cases through them, the action gets smooth as glass. Who says you need an over-under or semi for skeet/sporting clays? :)

Usually the Beretta O/U goes to the range with me these days, but I took an 870 Tuesday. I had some reloads in old hulls, so I didn't care if they got lost or dirty.

The 870 was the one called Number Six here. Made in 1955, it has a new LC barrel and some spacers to bring the LOP up to what I need.

Didn't hit them all, but had fun dancing with an old flame....
