So I have this friend in another state. He gets a call from one of the local gun shops he frequently buys from. They have a Freedom Arms 83 in 454 with a 12" barrel. I had no idea that existed. No such animal listed on their website, but they do list an option for non standard barrel lengths ( for an extra cost of course ). So maybe that's how it happened. So they negotiate a price. He's gonna pick it up this past Saturday, after going to a gun show. He was looking for some original mags for a Hi-Power he just bought. So what does he come across at the gun show? ANOTHER Freedom Arms 83 in 454 with a 12" barrel. This one comes with a scope mounted, and a shoulder rig. It is also $400 cheaper than the one at the gun store. So what do you do? Well it was easy for him. He bought both. Can't wait to see the pics.

Sounds like my wife with shoes!😆

Makes sense to me. I bought a nice antique .38 S&W double action years ago for a reasonable price and a few weeks later found one in better condition for cheaper. A few weeks later I found another one in even better condition and even a little cheaper than the others. I now own 3 very similar .38 S&W double actions.

That sounds like a good problem to have IMHO. And it's kinda how I ended up with multiple model 18s. And many of the Single Sixes I have.....And.....

There was a house band that played in a BIG club in Atlanta back in the 80's called Gordon Dee and Pure Ivory. They were an awesome band and way better than most of the manufactured "music" you heard on the radio..

I'm going somewhere with this..

Anyhoooo... They did a LOT if original songs and this original thread starter reminded me of one of their songs entitled.........

A FOOL AND HIS MONEY WILL SOON...

PARTY.

It sounds like the OP stumbled into a sweet deal.

I wouldn't either, but I'd sure love to run a few rounds through it just to see what it was like. :)
Single action revolvers and I do not get along, so I probably would not wish to shoot the 454 Freedom Arms. But since I own an S&W 460 XVR, a 454 would be a walk in the park.:)

And, yes, I really have no need for the 460, It had a good sale price and I could not pass it up.

But then again, if I ever have to take out a big block Chevy, I'm covered.

Well, bummer. After buying these, my buddy reports they are not the unicorn 12 inchers we thought, but rather a couple 10 inchers. One is field grade & it clearly states that on the side. The other in every way looks to be a premiere grade. However that is not indicated. In fact the area where that would be, is blank. So he is going to contact Freedom Arms with the serial number for more info. Still waiting on pics.
