Seriously considering getting Galil Ace 308

I have several rifles in 308: Tavor 7, AR 10, Saiga AK and bolt actions. Stockpile 308 in brass and steel.

Price New: $1860

Thinking of selling AR 10s to get it.
Or selling STI Nitro 10 pistol.
Have Adams Arms AR 10 I like and an Anderson am-10 with the RF 75 coating new in box.

How does the Galil IWI compare to AR 10?
Reliability, Cycling, Accuracy, Range?
AR 10s tend to jam ftf, fte

Whats not to like? Made by IWI. Improvement on Ak47 design, 308 power, robust. Another way to use up your ammo.
Look possibly on Gun Broker or Gun Deals to find a descent price. You may be able to save some money if you buy slightly used.
A quality rds would go nice on this rifle as well. You should be ably to hit gongs out to a couple hundred yards if you like.

How would you compare its accuracy and range to that of an AR-10?
I know it will be more reliable and cycle better than an AR-10

Range as in how far it can shoot accurately?
Some semi-autos don't shoot nearly as far accurately as a good bolt action.

The Galil is a hoot to shoot! I’ve got the 556 as I only shoot matches and the steel and paper score the same regardless of caliber.

It’s still an AK and it’s not going to shoot 1MOA groups. My 556 is pretty a pretty solid 3MOA rifle. It’s been totally reliable after IWI swapped out the extractor for failures to eject.

How was IWI customer service to work with how do you contact them?
They have an IWI American office, right?

While I have never messed with the ACE, I have some experience working with other Galil models in Latin America, where they are very common. I was very unimpressed with them and would never own one. Most reliability problems with the AR10 can be addressed through proper lubrication- they tend to be much more unforgiving than AR-15's in this regard. I have found that using white lithium grease (available at auto zone) in and on the BCG as well as applying it to the inner walls of the upper receiver helps immensely, and works much better than a liquid lube, as liquids tend to get slung out of the rifle more when firing.

Called them up, got a RMA and sent the rifle back. I actually don’t remember if they paid for the shipping or not. Got the rifle back quickly after they replaced the extractor and spring.

IWI was like dealing with any other gun manufacturer, except Sig. Sig has burned me and I won’t buy their products again.

I agree about Sig having terrible customer service, and several friends have experienced the same.
To hear IWI is more like Ruger.
