The spring planting season is here in Texas which means the rabbit shooting season is next. While buying pellets for my air rifle to keep the garden cleaned out I noticed some of those pellets with the BB in the end and picked up a pack. They seem to shoot to the same point of ammo as my flat points.

Does anyone have any experience with these in taking small game? I need to know if they will take largish rabbits without issue. My RWS is moderately effective with flat points launched at 1000fps but I wish it were better.

I may have to do the same with some woodchucks. They ate my damn garden last year, even with rabbit fencing around it. Burrowed right under it.

We aren't allowed to trap the critters as they are considered varmints by the county and can't be released anywhere.

also , somebody makes a goldtip pellet out there, or tungsten, or something, they sell it at Academy. It is supposed to add 200 fps to a Gamo that shoots 1000 fps. that should add a bit of energy to the smack down.

The pellets your refering to are the Gamo RAPTOR's. They take a 1000 FPS rifle(mine is a GAMO Shadow) and turn it into a supersonic 1250 FPS rifle. WOOHOO! They up the velocity by an average of 25% in any air rifle and they make a distinctive supersonic CRAACK(!) too in the 1000 FPS air rifles. The pellets are alloy and are kind of pricey because they have a real 18 Karat Gold coating. At Wallyworld I paid like $7.99 for a 100 pack.

If your interested, GAMO's part # is 3017/GCL-52.
The UPC is 793676015460.

They do a really decent number on tree rats, but, that crack is as loud as some .22 LR ammo. :what:

I hope this helps.
