The "Geezer League" met again today out at PG. It has become one of those things that I wait for each week, and this is only my second go-round.
Doug "Yes, you can try out my Purdy" Kelly shot a beautiful little 20-ga Parker that he recently got back from repair. He makes me want to get a SxS double real bad (note to self: petition Dad for one of his Parker Repros....)
There was a Model 12, same one as last week, shot by former-Marine "The Other Doug." He and that Mdl 12 are a perfect combination.
There was a Model 21 and a Ruger Gold Label (IIRC). Both handled by great shooters (must petition the Old Man for the 20 or the 28...can't decide)
I had my Father's old TC with my much beloved 34" tube, and also brought my TC which Dad bought for me in 87 or 88 when I got serious about trap but was a broke college student (Monte Carlo, extended forearm, 30" Rem-choke Target barrel). I hadn't shot my TC for, probably, 8 to 10 years, but she still performed for me - 25 straight, but some breaks were chippy. I'll probably be offering this gun for sale soon, as 3 TC's are overkill.
Then there was Dave McCracken (he shoots trap low gun for cryin' out loud!!!). He had the 870 he refers to as "Frankenstein." I don't know what choke he had in there, but after the BANG, there wasn't a piece left of the targets that was bigger than a small pebble.....
All in all, a perfect way to spend a Friday morning!!
