I live in Oregon and haven't shot in a very long time, and I'm looking to purchase a few firearms, and im not sure where i should go buy them from. I like to buy new, for a retailer. Does anyone know where there is a good place to buy ?

I also am going to join a gun club "Douglas Ridge Rifle Club". I live about 5 miles from it. Thanks for any suggestions.

Gun show Dougles County.

There is a gun show March 22nd-23rd in Douglas County at Seven Feathers Casino in Canyonville. Most of the guns sold by dealers at gun shows are over priced but you still might find some thing to your liking at a fair price. It helps to have a idea of what you are looking for and the going prices before you go shopping for a gun or any thing for that matter. What are you looking for?

Chet,
Keith's Sporting Goods is in Gresham.
I've only been to the store a few times, but have bought several off them.

Pretty decent folks, all in all.
Bonus is you can eat at 'the dead zoo' restaurant in Estacada either going or coming back.

List what you're looking for. Some of us might have a line on a good deal.

I'm looking to buy a CZ 75 pistol. I would like to check out a glock 17 also. I haven't shot in almost 10 years, so im taking it slow to find a place to buy from a retailer. Im looking for a 9mm pistol so when I join the Range i will practice with it. 9mm seems like a good starter pistol. I wish the .22 lr ammo would be available. I would get a .22 but cant really find the ammo anywhere. So 9mm will work for me. Im just thinking of getting back into the hobby/sport.

Keith's would be a good place to start looking at those two models.

I'm sure not pushing his stuff at all. He is just the only dealer I really know of in the tri-county area.

I sold my com-bloc 75 to a friend a few years ago. The CZ was a comfortable (enough weight to keep recoil down) gun to shoot, but I really did prefer my Beretta 92 over it.

Good to hear you are coming back and getting into things rather than staying on the sidelines.
After my brother's (6 years ago), he had trouble for a while with spelling skills. It affected his math skills more and he still uses a calculator more than he used to.
I have to use it all the time!

.22 is going to be a LONG ways out for a steady supply without stockpiling.
Still in all, if you do not cast your own bullets for reloading, you cannot beat the cost of .22s even at 7 to 8 cents each.
I do not need to hear a real loud bang to feel I got my moneys worth out of a shot.
For me, shooting is a unique combination of both relaxation and yet a practice in concentration all at the same time.

Keith's Sporting Goods is in Gresham.

I bought a matched pair of mossy shotguns there during our brief stay in porthellandia.

Great shop, but busy !

If you can come a few hours south to Eugene/ JC area there are better shops, but not sure how a 2 hour drive to touch guns suits ya !

Keith's is number 1 in Portland, I bought my CZ there. They have a good selection of used Glocks also if you want to go that way. Northwest Armory is also good, but is farther for you coming from the east.

Chet, If you can get down to Grants Pass, there are a number of G.S.s! Check out Fox Firearms . They also have Doc Holidays, but they are as expensive as the gun shows! But they have ALOT of inventory. There are about 4 or 5 others on town & some pawn shops that sell firearms also. Medford also has a good number to choose from. If you live in the Roseburg area, G.P. is just down the I-5! Good luck. :)

The traveling gunshow will be in Medford this weekend. If you go down, you could go to the Sportsmans Warehouse. just off 62Hwy. There are 2 or 3 G.Stores just up 62Hwy. before you get to White City. Also there are several more shops in down town Medford. It might be worth a day trip. I have been from Portland to Ashland on I-5. The best gunshops are down south. There are also some fine gunsmiths in the area. Hope this information helps you find a good shop or 2 . Good luck!
