This Friday morning I walked into one of the local pawn shops. Nothing much there.
Then I noticed it. A Savage 110 in .270 with a Nikon Buckmaster variable scope. A couple of minor dings on the odd green laminated stock, but otherwise pristine.
The tag says $350.00
I say, "OK, put it on layaway, it's my Christmas present."
Yes, it's the most ordinary of deer rifles.
Yes, it's not pretty, sexy, or macho.
Yes, I don't even hunt anymore.
Yes, the price isn't that great.
It's still a rifle that I don't mind leaving in my truck in the parking lot every day while I'm at work so that I can go to the range on my way home.
I like my other rifles too much to treat them that way. And I really need the practice.
Have you ever bought a rifle or pistol using logic (or excuses) like that?
