I bought a few tubs of German Black Powder earlier this year from a reputable dealer. It works very well in my Navy .36 but has anyone else used it? I was wondering what grade it was (FFF etc) as it doesn't say on the tub - forgot to ask when I bought it but I did ask for a grade that was suitable for BP revolvers. It comes in a white tub and has written on it~:

Gunpowder
F.O. Triangle
500 Grams Nett!
Made in Germany

Like I say, I haven't had any problems with it , just wondered if anyone else has used it, and if so what do you think?

Maybe it's a "house brand" that's custom labeled for or by the vendor from one of the German powder makers. A web search doesn't turn up much of anything about it. Could the vendor be buying it in bulk and packaging it up himself? Maybe that's why there's not any granulation specified on the tub.
If you ask the vendor who manufactures it, then maybe there would be more of a solid basis for comparison.

Is this the URL of where you bought it? I noticed that this vendor uses returnable tubs which could be a sign of self-packaging. :)

All powders are available in 0.5kg containers. Note that the containers are returnable. Re-use keeps the cost down!

Thanks for that.

No I bought it from:

I was only interested as I haven't seen any references to it on any forums. It ignites really well and 'flys' out of my .36 Navy. It does seem to foul easily though, but that could be because I was using Vasaline to seal and lube the chambers. I trying Trex (like your Crisco) next week to see if it makes any difference.

Only a few brands of powders are imported into the U.S. and so not much traffic would be generated about your brand. Now if it were Wano, Schuetzen, Swiss, Goex, etc., then there would be information.
