Get The Kids Shooting

Daughter Halie has been shooting since she was 9. She is 13 now and we
just got back Sunday from the Muzzleloading Nationals at Friendship INdiana
She won the Jr. pistol championship. They have two 10 shot targets at 25 yds. using one hand un-surpported. They shoot on the regular NRA pistol target. She also won the 10 shot 25 yd. re-entry match. she has her own
pistol a 32 cal muzzleloading pistol. Get your kids out and get them to shooting. We had to sneak her out of school for the trip, but she took homework and did it while there. We are from Kansas City.

My kids are begging me to take them shooting, I just haven't had the time lately. At 10, 8, and 6 I trust them more than I do some adults that I have gone shooting with.

As soon as my 9 yr old shows that he can properly demonstrate the four rules with his Nerf guns, we will get him shooting things that are a bit less target friendly.

My 9 and 6 year olds have been shooting a few times. They are good with the rules. I keep drilling them on and off the range. Keeping the finger off the trigger is the only rule that they have issues with.

I started bringing my son and, then, my daughter shooting right after they finished high school. They were victims of a nasty divorce, and I didn't get to see them much for several years but, at 18 or so, they started figuring things out for themselves and, with my genes, they naturally took to firearms like ducks to water! I absolutely LOVE taking them shooting to enjoy a wonderful combination of excitement, heightened responsibility, personal development, and comraderie--not to mention learning a valuable life-skill. Once the bug took, I then had the great pleasure of gifting them their own firearms, which tickled them to no end. What a FANTASTIC sport and hobby!
