Well, I'm mainly a Semi-Auto shooter, and I carry either a Glock 17 or Kahr K9 most of the time. But earlier this year I bought a Ruger SP101 because I wanted a .357 and to learn the mechanics of revolver shooting. Anyway, here's what I did with my Ruger last week, 30 shots at 7 yards, all fired Double Action.

I know some of you guys can put 6 rounds through a single hole at 25 yards, with your wheelie. But that's not me.

This pic represents an improvement for me, believe it or not. Each time I drew from my small of the back holster and fired 5 shots, COM, as fast as I thought I could do acurately. On my last five rounds, I fired three shots into the head and then the last two into the chest.

This gun is a 2 inch Snub, so the FARTHEST that I would ever care to shoot it out to would be 15 yards. Any input yall could give me would be helpful.

Outstanding!
I regularly carry a Smith 442, .38 spc. When I practice, it is at 12', 25', and 50'.
 i only wish i could do that good at 12'.....practice - practice - perfect practice...

Note to self: next time, get the SP 101 :banghead:

I have the same weapon, and I have considered 15 yds to be my practical distance limit, as well. Of course, it is not my main carry weapon either.

StrikeFire83 - I know that you think 15 yards is good and all, but it's really, really fun to fire out to 50, 75, or even 100 yards with a snubnose.... when you realize that you're making hit after hit, it's incredibly gratifying.:)

StrikeFire83,
Why are you putting yourself down about your shooting? From what I see on that target you did very well. All 30 rounds hit from 7 yards is the reported statical distance at which most gun fights occur. Now that you got all 30 in the kill zone from 7 yards try moving out to 9 or 10 yards next time. I think you just might surprise yourself.

BTW, you said 15 yards is the furthest you would try to shoot your snub. If you can hit 35 out of 50 with the snub at 15 yards you will have shot well enough to qualify that piece as your backup for the NYPD.

IMO, the only poor shooter is the one that gives up trying to shoot better.

Thanks everybody for the encouragement. I'll be going out to the range tomorrow and we'll see if I can hit anything out to 15 yards.

Based on how you describe your drill, that looks like pretty good shooting to me.
