I'm going to ask a very broad question. How do you suggest getting into gunsmithing?

I'm interested in doing minor gunsmithing for folks who don't know or care how to. Of course I would charge enough to make it worth my while. I have decent knowledge and love learning more every chance I get. I've looked into a few online schools like Sonoran Desert Institute for some sort of a start. The GI Bill would pay for school. But, of course, I've heard terrible things about the online schools being a hack. (I'd like to hear your thoughts here too)

Really around here I would be more likely mount scopes and sight rifles in the fall.

So what's the best way? I can't go off to school because I have a family and a life here in South Georgia. I could pursue a job with a local gun shop that does minor gunsmithing. What are your thoughts?

Consider some of the NRA summer institutes of gunsmithing where you get professional instruction (believe one is held in North Carolina) to start.

Another vote for NRA Summer School. Take revolver reapir with Keith Gipson at TSJC. If you have Older Colts with Python style actions, he can teach you how to fix them.
