I finally have my hands on my police trade-in 11-87.
I took it to the range today and found that the recoil was much more pleasant than my Mossy 500 but I don't particularly care for the rifle sights.
It also seems to be fond of shooting to the left, the rear sight is maxed out and the front sight has been drifted to compensate for its leftist leanings. I'd really like to use it out to 100 yards for culling deer on our tree farm but the 12" to the left Kentucky windage is somewhat unsettling.
Winchester 2 3/4 1oz slugs seemed to be the way to go.
I shot 5 into four or five inches at 100 with the Kentucky windage and holding 8-10" over the bull for drop.
The group was dispersed on the vertical axis so I think that with a better sight picture it will be rather accurate.
The Federals and Rottweils were not as accurate(all rifled) as the heavier recoiling Winchesters.
Would be better served by a ghost ring, generous aperature peep sight or should I just buy a cantilevered barrel and scope?
I'd imagine the ghost ring and aperature sights need to be tapped into the receiver?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

IMHO, go with the GR because the effective range of a shotgun is out to 100 yds or so. Beyond that what accuracy can be gained with a scope?

My last time out, I fired besides a shooter with a scoped 12 GA. I had the GR's. I grouped tighter shots than he did all afternoon. :D
