Gibbs .45-70, .303--how do they shoot?

I know the workmanship is rough on these Gibbs Enfield re-works, but how do they shoot? I've been looking at the .45-70 and the .303 Jungle models.

I saw one 2 months ago at a gun show, they are a POS regardless of how they shoot. That is unless you plan on wearing a paper bag over your head to conceal your ID.

I've had ugly rifles that shoot great, and beautiful rifles (mostly Ruger No. 1's) that shoot horribly. Thus my interest in how they shoot. My guess is they shoot like crap, but who knows?

SWAT had a review of a couple Gibbs .303s a few months ago. One of them had problems with the scope mount falling off after each shot.

Gibbs = Crap

A few years ago I wrung out a few rilfes that Gibbs' "gunsmiths" had modified. The two things that stick in my mind are:

1. The "Tanker" No.2A on which the nosecap and foreend came apart while shooting it.

2. The No. Mk.III* "Tanker" that shot a foot and half to the left at 50 yards.

Gibbs has some neat idea but execution stinks.

Gibbs MILLED OFF the wonderful peep sight on the number4 mk1 and installed an open williams sight on the barrel for their otherwise kinda neat .45-70. There's a special place in hades for people who do that.
