has anyone had a chance to play with/shoot the gibbs number4mk1 enfield based .45-70?

I'm going to pitch the williams rear sight and install one of the milled rear issue sights if i get it.

I don't know if they've improved any over the last couple of years, but IIRC, positive reports of quality work and expert fit and finish on the Gibbs products have been pretty hard to find on this forum.
If memory serves, most posters report a shoddy product put out by Gibbs while sacrificing rifles with some history to do it. I get the feeling it's kind of a high priced 'bubba shop'. A search should explain further. IHTH

I handled a Gibbs 45-70 bolt rifle (enfield I think) that was the junkiest non-bubba gun I've ever seen.

Saw one at a gun show. Although I liked the concept, the execution was clumsy (at best).

I recall asking those questions earlier and getting few if any replies. Most have simply picked up the rifles, decided they dislike the fit and finish, and put them back. Does anyone actually own one or have a shooting report?
