(I put this in the Activism forum at first but I thought it was the wrong place to put it so I edited this out of there. I don't think the Legal forum is the right place for this either. The general forum is the closest match, I think, for discussion regarding what this anti-2A individual is doing, to keep tabs on what the anti-2A forces are up to.)

Former U.S. Rep. Gabby Giffords on Tuesday launched a nine-state tour in which she's advocating for tougher gun laws that she says will help protect women and families.

:banghead:

She was very pro gun when she had her entire brain.

I never understood this. I met a trauma surgeon who said he was anti-gun because of his job so I asked him about his sports car.

By all accounts Christopher Reeves loved horses until his death.

I don't understand.

I learned a long time ago, on this very forum, that you can't have a rational discussion with a victim of gun violence about gun rights. There is just to much emotionality involved. There is no "winning".

Now I have seen in the media few parents who understand still, even though their families were affected by this evil, but they are few and far between.

Like Mike said, I'm in AZ, she used to be decent to the 2nd, in an area that would not have voted for her if she was not.

According to the article, she mustered a grand total of 20 people @ the university of southern Maine to hear her talk :uhoh:

Clearly there is just SO MUCH interest in this that ABC HAD to cover it.

And yet here we are talking about it

I can't figure out how to quote posts on this forum, short of manually copying and pasting their posts and then typing vB code including their full user name and encapsulating the pasted materials.

@Warp: You raise a valid point. As odious as she is, am I doing us a disservice by even mentioning her and her latest derpy exploits?

Hit the icon to the bottom right of the post. The forum will jump to the bottom of the page where there is a text box. Click/check the small box to the lower left for "quote message in reply".

To make sure it worked hit "post quick reply" without entering anything into the box, and you will see the quoteed post in the box, below which you can type yours

Test reply, sincere gratitude if it works ;)

Edit - it does! Woohoo!

You mean this one?

My not too humble opinion is there is no such thing as a pro-gun politician. It is just that some are less anti-gun than others.

I think it is more her husband than her, but both go along with it. I think the trauma and long recovery did not help. When you have staff and the husband anti gun it is a done deal.

She's been a hapless anti-gunner from the get go. Now she's just a pathetic pawn, being used by her husband, Moms & Bloomie types.

It is truly pathetic. And a Arizonan, no less. It just shows you that the hoplophobe sickness can happen anywhere. There are no boundaries.

Let's be high road, guys. No need for name calling, or putting people down.
Especially someone who survived a GSW to the head.
If you disagree with her, vote the right way.

Remember, individuals in these organizations are interchangeable and we're fighting the ideas and laws they seek to impose.

Actually you should hit the go advanced tab and it will bring up the quote in message box.
This way allows you to edit for selective quoting. HTH

And I'm glad this discussion of an anti gunner degenerated into a helpful forum tips thread.
Much more interesting! :)

I could cite a number of personal tragedies associated with alcohol abuse. But I would feel like an idiot canpaigning for restrictions on alcohol.

My home county was "dry" from 1953 to 1968. Bootlegging and the violence associated with bootleggers was a problem. One of the notorious places was called "The Bloody Bucket" and another was "The Sugar Shack". Plus you could call a cabbie and ask him to go to Red Lee's and pick up Jack Daniel and drop him off at your address, the cab would go to the bootlegger's and deliver to your door for the price of the bottle + cab fare for passenger Jack Daniel. Gradual legalisation in 1968 was greated with dire warnings of "blood in the streets" by the die hard antis.

Abuse is the problem. Bad acters should be the target. Prohibitive laws just compound the problem. But campaigning against a symbol, cheap easy voodoo criminology, is a common theme in American politics.

When millions of people feel they can own and use guns or alcohol without harm to themselves or others, a ban either demon rum or assault weapon is simply going to support black market traffic, the abuse will continue or get worse, otherwise lawabiding citizens will be made outlaws, and the respect and dignity of The Law is diminished.

Yes, but there are people who do that very thing for alcohol, drugs, drunk driving, cell phone use in cars, suicide, defense against various types of crime, etc. My take is that they feed a societal responsibility to try to help people NOT end up in their situation.

Susanna Hupp is in a similar situation and spoke to groups for years about pro-gun laws.

So while you might feel like an idiot, other people find a calling in doing what they do. So much the better if it compliments views they already had.

Not to derail the thread, but is there a way to find out if Bloomberg is funding her tour?

And how much is he spending on it?

Likewise, is there a way to find out in detail how much is he spending on his anti-gun groups like MDA (Mom's Demand Action) ?

Is the information public?

Dr,, the lady was a hapless anti-gunner well before her tragic shot to the head. You can try to keep that in perspective.

Why do I have to take the high road when they're taking the low road and using all of the dirtiest tactics that they can possibly think of? This is war.
