Ain't it sumthin to have friends like the Saudis? What else is interesting or disturbing is how many European nations have citizens in Gitmo.

Besides, Europe, there are many other countries represented in Gitmo.

One Aussie, named David Hicks, is apparently one of the really high-profile prisoners.

Jihadis come in all sorts of flavors and colors.

And an excerpt below:

WASHINGTON, Feb. 4 (UPI) -- At least 160 of the 650 detainees acknowledged by the Pentagon being held at the United States military base at Guantanamo, Cuba -- almost a quarter of the total -- are from Saudi Arabia, a special UPI survey can reveal.

In UPI's groundbreaking and detailed breakdown of the nationalities of the detainees, some arrested far from the 2001 battlefield of Afghanistan, the other top nationalities being held are Yemen with 85, Pakistan with 82, Jordan and Egypt, each with 30.

Afghans are the fourth largest nationality with 80 detainees, according to the detailed UPI survey that has now for the first time established the homelands of 95 percent of the total number of prisoners.

One member of the Bahraini royal family is among those detained, according to his lawyer Najeeb al-Nauimi of Doha, Qatar, who was Qatar's 1995-97 justice minister and has power of attorney from the parents of about 70 prisoners.

It's my understanding that the American Taliban POWs were no longer kept after being questioned, not after Johnny Walker Lindh.
Question.
Shoot.
Shovel.
Shut up.
Repeat as necessary.

Do you have any credible evidence whatsoever supporting this outrageous claim?

Yes, but I won't post it, for obvious reasons.

You remain free to believe or not believe, that doesn't matter one whit.

As a former soldier, I can say that what I've heard rings of the truth. I certainly would only take American Taliban POWs for information-much preferable to kill them where they stand than have them get a high profile trial and a light sentence for treason in light of September 11th.

Willard, if I'm reading your post right you're claiming that American Taliban prisoners are being questioned, then executed?

That this is current policy and SOP?

If so, I'm afraid I'm going to need to see something a little substantial than Internet keyboard rumour.

I respect that, I certainly have trouble believing most of what I see on the internet.

I'm sure it's no ones official SOP. My understanding is that GI's are not giving them a chance to surrender, when they can. Most detainees leave the custody of conventional units pretty quickly, too.

It was not and is not my intent to high jack this thread. Hillbilly, my apologies.
