The Glock 19 is a
lot easier to conceal than most people realize, and the holsters that make it possible are abundant. After carrying a Ruger SR9c for more than a year, I decided to transition away from having an external thumb safety. I got my first Glock 19/23/32 frame pistol, and started playing with holster, belt, and carry location. It did not take long at all to realize that I could easily carry and conceal this pistol all year long, whether wearing Winter clothes, or Summer clothing (shorts & tshirt).
Tricks for concealing a Glock 19 (IWB):
- good gun belt. I use a BladeTech Looper. There are many other, equally solid choices. This will prevent any sagging at the belt, and will distribute the weight so that you don't feel like one side is being dragged down.
- hybrid IWB holster*: hybrid holsters typically have 2 belt loops or clips, with the firearm riding between them. Again, this helps distribute weight, so that all of the weight isn't dragging down through a single clip location. The two loop/clip system also helps manage the angle of the grip and secures the location of the holster while carrying. No flopping or rotating, at all. Most of these are tuckable, as well. They are also very FLAT-- substantially moreso than they appear to be when you're holding it in hand. When your belt goes through the loops/clips and over the kydex, it creates a surprisingly invisible 'pocket' for the firearm.
- my own special secret: wife beaters. I buy quality beaters, which aren't expensive, but are
slightly thicker material than cheaper ones. I use these as a second layer under my tshirt, which helps kill any printing. Because they're tank top cuts, they don't make heat an issue.
Here are some pics pulled from Google Images of hybrid holsters in use:
HAHA! I even found one of my own pics on Google Images! This is actually me, with one of the 'beaters I wear visible, wearing my Galco King Tuk with cargo shorts:
