But, if I owned either. purpose would be for fun, maybe occasional *ground hog.

The Glocks have been the least fun to shoot semi-auto pistols I have ever fired. The Berettas fit me much better so I would go with one of them.
Shoot both types of pistols and see which you like best.

It is all going to come down to you. For me the glock just does not feel good in my hand, the beretta while a little fat for me just feels better. I have owned a 92fs for better part of 15 years. Used in in bowling pin shoots, steel...you name it...and never a problem.

Yes for the stated purposes I think the Beretta wins hands down, which was why I put my vote in for it. A lot of people seem to be bringing up concealed carry or aftermarket parts or mag capacity. None of those things would seem to matter for the intended purpose(s). If there was a chance the OP would use it for concealed carry down the road, I'd lean toward the G19, depending on how high the chance of carry is. But I do still think the general consensus that you can't go wrong with either is pretty spot on.

I prefer Glock for it's simplicity, relativity, and I like the ergonomics on it. That being said, a Glock does not fit in some peoples hands well. I've owned a 92fs and sold it in 2 weeks. There are too many controls on the gun and the trigger pull, in my opinion, is long. The Beretta is reliable though and pretty accurate so it's no slouch, just big and lots going on.

Hold both guns and choose the best fitting one. Both will serve you well. After making the purchase...shoot it a lot.
