As far as .45's go, I don't know anyone that owns one of these. For those of you that own them, how has been the overall durability/accuracy/reliability?

Even tho I blew mine up, I blame bad ammo not the gun ;) That said, I like the G21...I like the new "SF" version of the 21 evn more! ;)

I bought one used a couple years ago. I fired a few boxes in it. It shot accurate (for me) and was reliable, but it had too much recoil, more than the 1911s that I have fired.

I sold it after that, and have regretted it ever since. I should have tried different ammo, other than 230 gr Winchester.

:banghead:

I had one for a while -- reliability and performance were par for what you'd expect from a Glock. One failure to fire the whole time I had it, and that was definitely the ammo, not the pistol (good, deep primer strike, just no ignition).

Accuracy seemed good as well, though I find I have to do a lot of shooting with a Glock trigger to get really acceptable groups with them. It's not the pistols, definitely me, but the Glock trigger is different enough from other stuff I shoot (1911s, CZs, Sigs) that going from them to the Glock opens my groups up a lot initially.

The only real downside with the Glock 21 is the grip size. It's a pretty big grip, and some people don't care for it. Others don't mind it at all, or even prefer it. I'd recommend checking it out and seeing how it feels in your hands, how well you can get to the controls, etc. If the ergonomics work for you, you probably won't have any other issues with the pistol at all.

I had one until a few days ago, and sold it on this forum. It was fantastic, but just too big for CC. Recoil did not seem bad, and it hit where you aimed. You could shoot it after no practice for a long time and it still shot well.

I had a 21 for about six months and decided to get rid of it for another 1911.

After a year I decided I missed it and bought another one. I have shot it lots for the past year. I think I am going to have to say that for me it does shoot a little softer than a steel frame 1911. I have 30+ years shooting those. It is my house gun. It replaced a 1911 that has held that lofty positon for years. It does have a little bigger grip, but I do not find it an issue at all. It goes bang everytime I pull the trigger. I have not had even one FTF and is accurate.

I have carried it in a IWB and it worked just fine. But then I am 6'3" and 238 and can hide most anything I choose to carry.

I do not hide the fact that I love my 1911's, but Glocks work and the G21 for me is at the top of the pile.

I won a G21 at a GSSF match (worker drawing) just before the magazine ban went into effect. (My memory ain't what it used to be. Can't remember the year.)

My G21 is incredibly accurate and very soft recoiling.

This too, is on the list of 'never will be sold'.

I started this journey in October 2005, with a 3rd Gen G21.

I have long fingers, and the G21 fits me beautifully--I liked it immediately! :)

This .45 ACP has proved absolutely reliable, with the only Fail-To-Feed events being caused by one case of funky .45 ACP Blazer Brass Ammo (rounds varied up to 1/8" in length!), and various 10 mm ammos tried during my .45 ACP : 10 MM Conversion Experiment.

In its original OEM .45 ACP mode, with decent ammo, this G21 is 100%, and the proverbial tack driver, in good hands. Equipped with Meprolights, LaserMax, and X200B, it is my bedside gun. ;)

Round Count: 9200+
Parts Repaired/Replaced: Zero

NOTE: The 10 mm conversion is about 90+% reliable with the following ammos: CCI Blazer 200 GR FMJ, Winchester SilverTip 175 GR JHP, Double Tap 135 Gr Nosler JHP--my favorite. While this is acceptable for range play, I would recommend a dedicated 10 mm for carry or hunting.

I actually traded even up a Mil-Spec that I had modified by the Springfield Shop for a new G21 SF. For me it was the best move. I just shoot Glocks better than anything else. I only have 250 rounds through it so far so I can't really state to durability but it has been accurate and reliable so far.

Never had a 21 but did have Glock 30 and it was a great pistol, sold it to a friend for what I had in it. I've kept my Glock 33 along with six magazines and a barrel to shoot 40S&W, all Glocks are great pistols for the long term, but prefer the 33 for general conceal carry.

I have had glocks and traded for other manufacturers....went back to glock even after a short stint with a spring loaded 1911...nothing points and shoots as natural as a glock in my hands is all....that said, my G21 has been solid and reliable with all handloads and facotry loads I have fed it.

I love my Glock 21. In fact I have been using a Kimber Pro Carry for my ccw and I do like it also but have a CQC/S holster on order for the 21. If I can comfortably conceal it with the new holster the Kimber will be put away.
It's hard to overlook 14rds of .45 ACP. :)

Got the 21sf. Wife shoots it better than our sw1911, but tends to limp wrist it more causing double feeds. The sw1911 has never jammed for anyone. The 21sf is picky with weaker shooters. It's never jammed on me. Can't decide which I like better. Both are great. I'm a real trigger snob. I don't need a very light or crisp trigger, but do need a great reset to avoid short stroking. The sw1911 and Glock both offer that.

I've had one for 16 years. It's a great gun!
I bought a Sig P220 and sold it after a few months b/c it couldn't beat my G21. It out-performs my friend's USP 45 as well.

13+1 of .45; Glock durability and reliability. You can't go wrong.

A Glock 21 was the first semiauto pistol I ever bought & I ordered it in brand new when they first came out. Still have it, just don't shoot it as much or carry it much because of its size. It's my last and only remaining Glock. I only ever had one malfunction with it and that was the very first round I ever fired stovepiped; but I limp wristed it & learned a valuable lesson and it's never jammed again. Hogue slip on grip, +2 mag extensions (15+1!!).

The G21 was also my first semi-auto. I'm on my third and final one though, trading two off believing there was something better for me............I was wrong. I will not get rid of it again.
