I had planned on getting a G21 for home defense and a G36 for CCW. Now Im thinking about getting the G30. Im thinking it could be one gun for both roles.

This would be my first CCW hand gun, is it a good choice? I've heard lots of complaints about the thickness. Anyone carried the G30?

I carry a G21SF sometimes, a G30 is definitely possible. My G23 tucks very well, figure the 30 is a little worse. Most people I've known who shot a G30 fell in love with it and shot it well, so I'd recommend handling one & seeing what your impression is.

I carry a G30 and it is a great little carry gun. It is thick for IWB carry but it disappears with an OWB carry and rides up high enough that it doesn't peek out from under a T-shirt. It is thicker than the other baby Glocks but we are talking about significantly different round sizes. I like the G30 and would recommend it to anyone who wants a compact .45 and does not want to carry a Commander sized 1911.

I tried to carry a G30 for a bit. It ended up sitting in the bedside drawer. It is a FANTASTIC shooter though. It is very accurate and easy to shoot well. I can hide a full size G17 easier though, because of the thickness. I think the G21/G36 combo would be better, if you have the money. If not, the G36 is a fine HD gun. I don't live a high risk life, and I'd be plenty comfy with a G36 in the HD role.

I can carry a 1911 IWB more comfortably then a Glock 23.

They should have changed the name to Block 23.

I carried my G30 in a Milt Sparks VMII IWB holster for years. As I got older and my pants unsuspectingly shrunk over the years :) I find IWB carry for the G30 to uncomfortable but that's because my fat butt can barrel fit into my pants :).

I can easily carry a full sized 1911 or more frequently my Commander IWB without issue.

I carry a Glock 30 sf. Great weapon and controllable recoil. I carry it in a Smartcarry holster and a Remora holster.

Glock 30 stays in truck, carry a kahr pm 45 much more comfy. But 30 gets the job done when needed.

I often carry a G30sf. I love it. And you are right, it's a firearm that can go from the holster to the night stand. I prefer .45 so it's a good choice for me. However a number of glocks as well as others are suitable for general duty.

I've got an OWB crossdraw from a custom maker that works very well. I haven't weighed it, but I've got a feeling it isn't much heavier than my AMT .45 Backup, which is my preferred carry handgun.

I use mine for HD and CCW. Great weapon. I have one of the first g30s, never let me down. I carry IWB with a cross- breed super tuck. Once the holster is broke in I hardly noticed it. But try the pistol first, like a previous post said, people pick it up and love it. I shot hk's, Taurus, rugers and anything else i could before I purchased. The glock was just right for me. Good luck. I give the g30 two thumbs up for a solid all around 45.

I wear t shirt all the time in hot Houston. Glock 23 iWB for me is no problem. Im medium built and wear a size bigger tshirt. The 9 m Makarov on the other hand is the best in IWB carry. I do want a glock 30 but just reserving it someday . I m eyeing on a M 4 for a range gun.

My G30 gets out and about quite often. I recently bought 2 pairs of cargo shorts that I can pocket carry it in, with a good stout belt, took a little to get used to but it was more mental then physical because I kept thinking about it, but it don't print so it's a fit.

And IWB is even easier then you'd think with a good holster and a loose t-shirt.

I carry the Glock 29 in a Comp-Tac CTAC, IWB holster. Conceals well. (The G29 is the same size as the G30.)

For thick guns, I look for IWB holsters that place as little as possible between me and the belt. The CTAC (or MTAC) holster is made with thin Kydex and the clips fore and aft, not on the side of the holster.

The most difficult part of a Glock to conceal is the blocky end of the slide above the back of the grip.

No reason to get both the 21 and the 36. First of all, I don't find the 36 to be much better for carry and for at least 4 extra rounds, I prefer the 30 to carry. Additionally, I don't see much benefit in the 21 over the 30 for home defense. The 30 will take the 21's mags and unless you're shooting 25+ yards, the 30 is more than sufficient in accuracy. The G30 is my 2nd favorite Glock, behind the G20 and in front of the G27.

I wonder why Glock didnt come up with a GLock 36 with a little longer frame grip to accomodate four more rounds like the Glock 30. With a slimmer Glock 36 slide that be a winner.

With a gun like the G30 it's all about the holster and the belt. It carriers great in a crossbreed super tuck.
