I read a post on GlockTalk, about a couple of guys that have put G36 slides on their G30 frames. I didn't know they would fit, but it definitely does. I haven't shot it that way, but everything fits and seems to work.
Why??? Well, for one thing, it makes the gun slimmer at the slide (which is fat on the 30). It seems to be better balanced than a stock G30 - and it looks a tad more proportionate. The slide locks back with an empty mag in it. The recoil springs seem to be the same rate. The guy on GT swears by the combo and told me he has about 1000 rounds through his without problems.
Has anyone here tried this? I was going to sell my G36, but if there are no drawbacks to this, I may keep it and use the slide on my G30 (and sell the G36 frame). If this works properly, then why-oh-why didn't Glock bring out the G30 with the slimmer slide? Was it just for commonality of parts with the G29?
Any thoughts on this?
