To sell to agencies that have bean counters that are accident adverse and afraid of lawsuits. It is a marketing feature for the most part.Me neither... to quote Yzma, “Why do we even HAVE that lever??”

The other downside now is, they use a small pistol primer. Not a big deal, but with the primer situation now, its not optimal. Ive been burning through my small pistol primers at their normal rate for other things, and have had to slow that down a good bit. I have plenty of large pistol primers and now a 45 that wont take them. Go figure.
From what Ive read, my understanding is no, and in a couple of respects.Couldn't you just shorten the brass case from a 45 ACP and use your large pistol primers? Or am I missing something?
Bad idea.... .45 GAP has thicker case walls.Couldn't you just shorten the brass case from a 45 ACP and use your large pistol primers? Or am I missing something?
The pressure is not that much higher than .45 ACP. 45 GAP is more along the lines of of +P ACP load and other than the headstamp .45 ACP +P brass is no different than standard ACP brass is. It's not a guarantee that if someone used shortened ACP brass that there would be a blowout/ head separation, the GAP's thickened head walls were done to reduce the potential for one.Bad idea.... .45 GAP has thicker case walls.
