I am in the market for a ported barrel for my G19. out of Lone Wolf and Storm Lake,, which would be higher quality?

Storm is pricier. I have tried and liked Wilson Combat and Lone Wolf, both have been good barrel sources for me. Have not tried yet Storm Lake or Barsto. Barsto of course comes with a long wait.

I have heard but cannot confirm that storm lake barrels are usually not drop-in, and need to be fitted by a gunsmith. My dad has a Lone Wolf barrel in his G34 which dropped in and worked great. I'm considering one for my 17.

I've had issues with SL barrels being tight chambered, but their construction and finish are good. I've avoided LWD barrels due to their spotty QC issues, but I know of folk who use them with success. I have one BarSto; it needed to be fitted (trimming the barrel hood a bit) but is a very nice barrel. I prefer EFK above all others for their combination of cost, finish, and apparent quality.

I have a lot of rounds through EFKs with no issues.

Spotty QC lone Wolf so true for my example. As mentioned Bar-Sto requires minor fitting. I'm satisfied with KKM barrels.

The LWD barrel I got was accurate but I don't like the fact that it takes the finish off the top inside of the slide.

If I could do it over I would have gotten it blind-marked and sent it to Robar to be coated it NP3+

There is a vid on utube where a guy compares 50 Lone Wolf barrels.. With just about 50 variations of the same thing..

I wouldn't give 10 cents for one.. There is a reason why they are cheap.

I have a SL in 9mm and a LWD in .357 sig for my G23c. SL dropped right in and so did the LWD. I don't have any problems with either of them. They have both been reliable and accurate.

I know from experience that the lone wolf are of poor quality. I have one for my G20. It will not cycle reliably. When I contacted their customer service, they told me to ship it back with a round of ammo so they could modify it. Also, after I bought it, I found out that they are made in Korea. Do not buy the LW.

I used a KKM in mine and it took just a few minutes of fitting to get it to fit my G20 perfectly. Very accurate and easy to use and fit. No problems since so I would recommend them.

Ive had three LWD barrels now, and they all have been drop in and trouble free.

No experience with Lone Wolf barrels but my Storm Lake barrel is very well made and finished and is drop-in, ready to go.

Lone Wolf Dist, Jarvis, KKM, Bar-Sto....

There are a few high end after market Glock barrels.
I'd look at all the styles; KKM, Lone Wolf Dist, Bar-Sto, Storm Lake, Jarvis.
From what I know, Lone Wolf Dist offers lead firing barrels if you prefer that format.
If you shoot mostly FMJs or milspec rounds, a Storm Lake or KKM barrel would do okay.

I'd look at these sources; www.customizeyourglock.com www.glockstore.com www.glockbooks.com www.glockworx.com .

Lenny Magill posts a few informative Glock product videos on www.youtube.com .

I use several Lone Wolf 40S&W and 40-9 conversion barrels for Gen3 Glock 22/23/27 along with KKM barrel and while they have been all "drop-in", KKM barrel edges out slightly in accuracy.

If you reload, both barrels have worked very well with lead bullets. Only issue I would point out is that while KKM 9mm barrel came with freebore/typical leade, older Lone Wolf barrels came reamed and my newest barrel (Wolf logo faces the muzzle end of the barrel) came with very quick start of rifling with almost no leade (like my Sig 1911 barrel). While this reduced gas leakage and improved accuracy, it had issues with non-stepped RN lead bullets and now I use stepped RN bullets with this barrel - http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?p=9467811#post9467811

Here are some actual recent range test results with pictures of target shot groups using both KKM and Lone Wolf barrels - http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=745656

LW is currently the only MFR that offers a 9" barrel for Glock applications.

If anyone else did that or longer, I'd be happy to check out their offerings.

Ain't nothing like a Glock 20 with a long barrel for busting hogs!!

Have had good luck with storm lake. Have 4 barrels for my glocks and all have dropped in with no fitting, and all are more accurate than factory barrels.

I currently own four LW barrels, all have very little leade that prevents my loading to my preferred OAL. Bought all four at the same time--------smart! Time for a trip to the gunsmith. Next time I'll order KKM.

Shooter1, I would give Lone Wolf customer service a call. You may be able to send samples of your reloads and all the barrels and have them reamed for lower price (and still maintain the factory warranty).

Thanks! I emailed LW sometime back and was told the cost of fixing the barrels would be $30 a copy. They requested four dummy rounds per barrel as well. The problem with the barrels is not the chamber dimensions, but the leade. I don't want the "Glock Hole" chamber job they routinely do. I already had that with the factory barrels. I'll have my Smith lengthen the leade and call it a lesson learned.

i have 3 LWD barrels and about 7 Storm Lake. i prefer the Storm Lake as they have better fit & finish plus the accuracy is slightly better. if your looking for a certain one let me know as i have several i have never used and duplictaes of a few. most of the barrels i have are threaded.
