Would a G34 or a G17 (or 17L) barrel drop-fit and function properly in a G19?

I've heard that the G19 mags fit in a G26, will the G17/G34 mags fit in a G19?

Thanks -

EDIT: yes, I know they'd be longer and hang out the end of the slide, but would they work?

OK, I tried putting my g17 barrel on my g19. It will not work, took me 10 minutes to the the thing apart. Any longer mag will work on a shorter framed gun of the same caliber.

Any longer length mags will fit in the same caliber. I have heard that a 19 slide will work on a 26 and a 17L or 34 on a 17 frame. A 17, 17L, or 34 will not fit either the 19 or 26 frame. Lone Wolf sells the dust cover I believe. Anybody tried it?

Hey I meant barrel and slide. Did you just mean barrel?

Yes, I meant just the barrel. I'm not sure why, but for some reason I had the urge to drop a G34 ported barrel into my G19... and I wondered if it would work.

Also, since the 19 mag hangs out of a 26, I've seen special magazine grip adapters that fit on the bottom of a 19 mag to make a 26 grip effectively longer than normal. Not sure if the same exists for a 17 mag in a 19/26 (though those do work.)

One nice benefit of the interchangeability of magazines is that if you carry both a 19 and 26 (or some other combination of 17/19/26), then you can carry a spare 19 magazine that holds 15 rounds, which can fit into either one of your carry guns.

Just remember, though that the shorter mags (G26) will be a problem on the 19 or 17. I was taking a pistol class where two folks were working together (shared ammo source, etc.), one had a G19 the other had a G17. Some how during a reload break the guy with the G17 got hold of a G19 (15 round) mag. He was more than a little bit embarrassed when he performed a magazine change drove his pistol forward, fired a round and found his magazine lying on the ground at his feet.

It was a funny incident at the class, but in real life it could have serious consequences.

Yeah, don't try it unless you want to spend 30-45 minutes removing that thing. I tried a G35 barrel onto my G23...bad experience.

First of all, the barrel lug of the G35 is designed way different than the compact barrel, therefore the stock G23 recoil spring will stick out. Second, it's a pain to remove.

I dont know from experience, but I've heard G29s have problems trying to eat out of a G20 magazine.

I know - it's the reason I want to do it.

I honestly don't care what length the slide is. I have my Model 23 Glock now and thought a whole other slide for 9mm + the necessary mags would be a good range option.

question about conversions

sorry for the slight highjack, but since were on the topic of conversion barrels. I know a g23(.40) can convert to .357 sig or 9mm,but can a g32(.357 sig) convert to .40 or 9?

Yes .40 s&w barrels are interchangeable with .357 sig. Check the link I have posted above the barrel graph on that page shows the interchangeability. The 9mm conversion barrels should also fit ether pistol.

I have a Lone Wolf 9mm conversion barrel for my Glock 22. It has performed flawlessly from day one (only ~400 rounds through it, though) with no changes other than the barrel and the mag (actually, I forgot a G17 mag once and had no failures in 50 rounds shooting 9mm out of my .40 S&W mags). I've noticed the empty brass tends to get flung more straight up than up and to the right, especially from a just-cleaned barrel.
