Now that I have a Glock...I'm thinking about conversion kits for it.

Who makes the best drop in Conversion kits for the Glock 17?

The main reason for getting a conversion kit is to keep ammo cost down but at thye same time, getting more accomstomed to the trigger and....just in case I want to go for a camping trip and want something that I can use with cheaper ammo and to just plink with.

Any help would be great.

I like 22 conversions in general and have units for the Glock 19/23 (Ciener), CZ-75B (Kadet), 1911 (Marvel) and a DPMS AR 22lr dedicated upper. However, I can not recommend the Ciener unit for the Glock. Mine has never run reliably with any ammo. It works best (when it works at all) with CCI Stingers but they cost more than my 9MM reloads. The other problem is that the 22 magazines do not fit in 2 out of 3 Glock frames i've tried it with. They fit fine in my very early G-19 (1987) but have to be pried out of my 2ed gen G-23 and tools must be used to remove them from a 3rd gen G-23. Overall, the Ciener conversion unit for the Glock is not worth the price.

On the other hand, I have heard nothing but good reports from the Advantage Arms units.

Hope this helps.

I have the Advantage Arms Kit for my Glock 17 and love it ..

Says it wont run on Federals but thats all i run in it i have thousands up thousands of rounds though it..

Only 2 bad things about the kit

#1 mags are only 10 rounds and since Advantage is in the PRK they can't make Hi cap mags for the Kit

#2 It is really really light with the kit installed and it hard to get used to at first feels like a kids toy

I know those 2 complaints are a personal thing but wanted to add them

Other than them the kit is great i shoot it a ton and it really helps ya get used to the glock trigger

I have the Advantage Arms kit. Excellent in my opinion. One could wish for more accuracy I suppose. But mine is just about the same level of accuracy as the Glock shooting 9mm. Absolutely the best thing I did was getting this kit. Allowed me to shoot thousands of rounds and much improve my feel/handling of the Glock. Make it second nature. A big plus for a SD handgun.

I too have the same two minor complaints. With an aluminum slide it is lighter. And it looks to me like you could easily have 25 round mags. Or at the very least make them 17 rounds like the GLock itself.

I also shoot mainly Federals. Had maybe a 2% failure rate early on. Though I figured this was low enough not to hurt much. And gives you a chance to practice clearing the GLock. Something that pretty much doesn't happen with 9mm. Then after a thousand rounds or so those pretty much went away. And I too, usually shoot Federals though AA suggests Rem Golden Bullets (but those are so dirty shooting).

I don't think you would regret the conversion. I balked at first as I could get a second hand 22 for the same price. But this was definitely better. No better practice than with the actual pistol shape, trigger and function as your regular carry handgun.

AACK!

I was a tester for the original Advantage Arms kits years ago.

Best Glock .22lr converison kit on the market!

aack

hello,i've had 2 aacks.both are flawless with remington bulk and cci minimags.excellent training supplements.

long barrel

I know that AA doesn't offer it, but has anone taken the extended barrel and threaded it themselves? did it cycle with a muzzle device (legal suppressor, etc)??
That would be just about perfect if it did!!!

another +1 for the AACK! Also mine came in a nice sturdy storage box with a classy red velvety looking lining. My only complaint besides the light weight is the sight picture is not too good, the rear sight is basically the notch floating in a rear sight housing, resulting in the rear sight blade top being uneven. Its been moderately reliable, but I have also fired a lot of crappy ammo, figured it made good jam clearing practice anyway.
