All,
What would a very early glock 19 gen 2 serial number DN xxx in very clean condition without original tupperwear be worth?

I bought one with 400 rounds of 9mm NATO a few months ago for $550. It was very clean and had new trijicons on it.

I'd say a good one is $400ish. Gunbroker sold prices vary widely.

The real value in these Gen1 and Gen2 are when they are mint and have the Tupperware.

Without the box and accessories, I don't know if it would have much collector value. If it has any preban mags still with it, those are worth a pretty penny nowadays to those poor souls trapped behind enemy lines.

There's one at my LGS for $300, hasn't sold yet but I bet it will. I guess it all depends on how much a collector is willing to pay since its a small market.

This whole Gen 2 being more desirable to some folks is new to me. I'm still trying to understand it.
I bought a Gen 2 G23 in 1994, came with 2 mags and bought a 3rd mag. Its all original and I have all the original tupperware stuff including the minimal glock holster and cleaning rod. The gun hasn't been shot much but has some holster wear.
Is there a chance I could sell it for enough to replace it with a new G19 and a few mags?

Quite possibly. Some Glock collectors have sprung up in the last few years, and they're a crazy bunch, and independently wealthy to boot from what I can figure. I would sell it now, though, and on Gunbroker. That's where the crazies flock for "collectible" Glocks. Like I said, strike while the iron is hot, as I highly doubt the demand will be there once this firearms fad is over. I recently sold an old Gen 1 on Gunbroker, and it went for an obscene price. I now regret selling it back then, because had I waited until now it would have gone for double, maybe even triple, what I got for it.

Slightly off course but a friend that is Glock Certified Armorer tells me that Gen. 3 are considered to be the best model. Gen.3's are very hard in find in my parts. Something to consider if you are going to be shooting it.

I agree with grampajack comment about Glock collectability. Folks collect everything but finding a buyer at the price you want to sell it for is another issue all together.

The only desirable feature of the Gen2 was the lack of finger grooves. The Gen5 kills that.

I'm honestly surprised there is a collectors market for old glocks. I have nothing against it, collect what you want, just figured there were enough on the market they wouldn't be collectible

I could see that, if they're talking specifically about the early gen 3s. Regarding finding a buyer, I can't emphasize Gunbroker enough. That's Glock collector central. Again, though, strike while it's hot, because all these Glock collectors are newcomers to the gun world who seem to be young and have a lot more money than sense. Either they will mature as gun collectors, or otherwise find some new fad to latch onto. Either way, the days of 2k+ dollar Gen 1s have to be numbered.

Surprisingly, the Gen 1s are pretty hard to find. I've been looking for a pristine one for a long time, with all the accessories and manual. I ran across a couple about a year ago, and the people wanted like 700. I thought they were out of their minds. Now even molested Gen 1s are going for big bucks. I will get my Gen 1 someday, but not until the craziness has died down.

Plastic does not improve with age but deteriorates. I wouldn't pay >$350 for Gen I or Gen II in very good condition. They just reintroduced this gun with dual recoil springs, ability to mount combat light/laser, and barrel with standard rifling plus three magazines for about $550. It carries laughable designation Generation Five.:uhoh:

I have gen 2 g19. It was given to me by my sister who is retired Metro PD from D.C. It's a F.O.P. 1989 Inaugural edition. I like the gun just hard to conceal.
