Of these options which do you think is the best all around firearm for EDC and HD/bedside use? I know this isn't an exhaustive list of Glocks...

You mean options of the various Glocks? I say 19.

Nevermind, I see your poll now :uhoh:

Just depends on too many things. I'm inclined to vote for the 19 because I think it's Glock's finest. But the 26 or 27 are even better for concealment and they are effective and accurate. Then of course, the G30 is simply more accurate than it has a right to be. So I suppose I'm voting all of the above except for the 17 because it's harder to conceal. And it can be argued that the G17 is one of the finest pistols ever made.

Let me clarify. I own each of these but it's really time for me to thin the collection a little and at least 1 has to go. I'm inclined to let the 17 go but it's hard because it's 100% reliable and easy to shoot.

I'm going to say the 26 (or 27) as they are easy to conceal. For home defence pop in a G19 mag with an A&G adapter and you have a full grip. Best of both worlds.

I really don't see the need for the 17 when you have a 19. Its kind of redundant, and the 19 fills two roles. Its got a barrel the size of most other service handguns, but compact enough to conceal well.

I voted 19 because its the cheapest to train with and has all kinds of ammo possibilities.
I really like the 23 though too.

Which one do you shoot best? I would think that should make your choice for you.

I carry a 17 and a reload daily and never had any problems concealing it. I also carry a 26 with it on a fairly regular basis as a BUG.

I have a couple of 19's, but have never really understood their place in the scheme of things. The difference in size between the 17 and 26 "is" a difference, the difference between the 17 and 19 isnt worth the bother, and the difference between the 19 and 26 is enough that the 26 is easier to conceal in places the 19 wont.

The grips on the newer 19's are a lot better since they modified the grips and did away with that "mag ripping" cut out in the front of the grip like the 17's have. You dont notice them on the 17's, but they sure were annoying on the early 19's.

If I had to get rid of one or two, I'd get rid of the 26 and 27. I've found that the baby glocks can't be concealed much better than the 19 or 17. Thick is thick is thick. That's just my experience.

I voted for the 19 because I believe that it is the best one that you listed suited for carry and HD/bedside use.

I see your point on thickness for sure. Fortunately I don't 'have' to get rid of any of them BUT I don't have the time or cash to spend equal time shooting them, it's just not realistic for me. So, if I sell 1 or 2 that's money I can kick into a range membership, ammo, classes, etc.

Great question - and the answer is essentially the reason I own 5 Glocks. I shoot "Glocks" the best. I have tried a lot of different guns in various calibers and keep coming back to Glock. So I look at my modest collection and the autos are disproportionately Glocks (other autos are more for fun i.e. 1911 or very deep concealment e.g. Ruger LCP.) Getting back to my original point it doesn't really matter if I pick up the 26 or the 27 or the 30 or the 17 or the 19...You look at my targets and they all basically look the same. Any difference in my own accuracy is negligible. I will say that I can get 'back on target' maybe a hair faster with the 19/17 but I think that would be true for almost anyone shooting a 19 and a 27 side-by-side.

Truth be told I lean towards the 19...In reality I don't shoot it any better than the 17 but it does seem to fit my hand better i.e. it's more comfortable. Interestingly though this doesn't actually translate to shooting it better than the 17. I like the 26 a lot for carry, it's just a good carry gun - but at the range it beats up my hand a little so I'm not inclined to shoot it for hours upon hours. My only other gripe about the 26 is that the grip is a bit short making it slightly more difficult for me to get a good purchase on the weapon during the draw. With the addition of a Pierce grip extension though this problem is basically resolved.

The 30 for all practical purposes is a cool gun but one that I just don't carry. I find that it's not too big but too heavy. There is something about the size to weight ratio that makes it difficult for me to carry/conceal. I have considered switching it out for a 36. However, in a pinch/really really bad situation I couldn't think of a better option than a G30 with a G21 mag to back it up.

While they do appear to be a "chunk", they are still a good bit smaller than the 19's, and can be carried more effectively in places a 19 cant, like an ankle holster. They also work very well in the "appendix" position, with or without a holster.

Sounds like you might be on to something. :)

I tried the extensions early on, and quickly learned they werent for me. They just caused more problems than they solved.

First they made the gun bigger, which basically defeats the purpose. Next was the pinching, both while shooting and reloading, and especially reloading. If you dont get that pinky out of the way... oi, oi, oi. Its a little tougher to shoot with the gun attached to your hand. :)

That little bit of knowledge also convinced me to use a 17 mag for the reload, no matter what I was carrying. Why waste time with a 10 rounder when a 17 works just as well, and actually better.

Once I got used to shooting the 26 with my pinky wrapped under the mag, everything was better, and it feels very natural now.

As far as getting a hold of it during the draw, a little "stippling" goes a long way, and makes them a lot easier to hold onto while shooting too. Works great on the bigger guns too.

If looking to drop one or two guns I would get rid of the 17 and the 26, but pick up a 9mm barrel and mags for the 27. Should give you plenty of money for things without much effect on your current shooting options.

Can you elaborate on this - 9mm barrel for the 27...can this be done and still achieve "Glock Like" reliability? And I would just use stock Glock 26 mags?

Yes to both at least in my experience. Over 2000 rounds in a Lone Wolf 40 to 9 barrel. I don't reload but it's supposed to take reloads as well.

I had a Lone Wolf barrel (40-9) for my 31, and it worked fine. Never had any reliability issues, although Ive heard others say you can if you dont swap out the extractor and ejector for 9mm parts. The barrel just drops in and I used one of my 17 mags.

Ive went thorough the barrel swap thing with a couple of my SIG's and well as the Glock. What usually happens with stuff like this is, you end up with one configuration you use, and the rest of the parts never get used again. Once I put the 9mm barrel in the 31, I rarely used the gun for 357SIG again, and soon sold it for another 17.

Whichever you shoot the best, can afford to shoot regularly, and feel most comfortable with

Exactly. I have a 33 that I also have a 9mm barrel and mags for. I like the .357 Sig round better but typically shoot the gun in 9 due to cost and availability of ammo. Have about 1500-1600 rounds through the gun in the 9mm configuration without a hiccup. Have switched back to .357 Sig 5 or 6 times, also no issues.

If keeping only one of the guns, Glock 19. It seems a very useful combination of size, capacity.

If enjoying caliber diversity, but needing to whittle down the collection, dump one of the 9mm guns (you have 3 already).

But if caliber diversity no longer appeals, and you want to get rid of just one gun, dump either the 27 or the 30, whichever you shoot the least.

I have owned several Glocks. The only one I kept (and plan on keeping) is my 19.
