Glock USA vs Austrian Price Difference?

There is no difference between the two except for the USA roll mark.
If you want USA on the slide you pay for it.

As there are relatively few USA marked Glocks, they bring a premium.

Isn't there a difference in the coating? I heard something about the EPA not allowing the coat process used in Austria to be applied to US Glocks. I took it for a grain of salt, THR might as well be Snopes for firearm rumor checks.

I came across a bunch of U.S. made Glocks at a shop that were all priced lower than the Austrian models. Was told the pricing was a lot more flexible with the U.S. produced Glocks...even the compensated models which are apparently only made in the U.S. now.

i understood that the slides on US Glocks were shipped overseas for coating then re-imported- anyone know for sure? If so, there wouldn't be any difference in the coating/finish between the two.

Interesting.... I bet it's just supply/demand. They have fewer therefore more expensive. In ten years, everyone will be looking for the coveted Austrian models made back when quality control mattered. We've all seen this movie before.

The USA Gen 4 Glock that I have appears to have a slide finish that is similar or identical to the old "frying pan" Gen 3 finish. I think it's a far better finish than the Austrian Gen 4's finish.

If I were guaranteed that an ordered USA Glock had the frying pan finish I'd gladly pay $20 more for it.

US Glocks have the same finish as Austrian ones. I have both. The finish you see is not indicative of the hardening process, though.

Best I can tell, Glock quit using Tennifer (a trademark name for the hardening process) some time ago. You won't find it in any of their literature like you used to. Their new process is still some manner of nitrocarburizing, from what I have read, it just isn't the Tennifer process.

In any case, you won't notice a difference if US Glocks have a different hardening process, and they've been pretty consistent with their finishes as of late, so it really doesn't matter. Bud's is full of it if they're charging an additional $20 for US-made Glocks.... I bought mine locally for $0 more than the Austrian ones.
