Gentleman and I say, Gentleman
I have a set of gauges that I purchase for my CZ 527( 223 caliper). my question is, can I used them for my new Savage, which is also 223? Being that CZ is foreign and Savage is the USA.
WHAT SAY YOU ALL.

Yeah, go/no gos are cartridge (or cartridge family) specific, not rifle specific.

What are you doing that you need headspace gauges?

Yes and no. .223 is rather unique as it has a brother sister relationship with the military version- 5.56mm . (like .308/7.62x51) there is slight variance with chamber specs with the .223 being slightly smaller but not really an issue for your stated purposes.. There are other versions of .223 , like the Wylde version too. But yours can be used to set up a Savage type barrel for .223 no problem if used correctly. Will shoot 5.56 also usually.

Varminterror- I found this gauges with my gear in CZ box and wandering If they could be used on my Savage 223, if so, would it matter if the rifle was
made in the USA or Europe?.

Thanks for that clarification. It won’t matter, the gauges will work for any 223rem or 5.56x45mm chambered firearm.

Headspace gauges are the same for 223rem and 5.56, as the headspace length for the two are the same. Base diameter variations between the two are incidental; comparing my first set of (wasted money) 223 and 5.56 G/NG gauges years ago, the 223 Rem base was actually larger than the 5.56 gauge. It’s a non-critical dimension for the tool, and makers will use a nominal, non-critical dimension for base.
