I am going shooting today. We are having a driven pheasant day over three thousand acres of woodland. We have 7 people shooting with a team of 15 beaters and dog handlers who will push the birds over the guns. Our expected bag for the day is 300 pheasants with a handfull of woodcock.
We have one American gentleman who is shooting with us for the first time.I will post again this evening with a round up of the day.Trying to calm my dog down at the moment who is getting excited at the sight of my gun....

Todays Bag:
279 Pheasants.
14 Partridge.
7 Ducks,(4 mallard,3 teal)
1 Canada goose.
6 Woodcock.
9 Wood pigeon.
2 Jays.
Our American guest shot with a Beretta 20bore O/U.Took a while to get used to the fast birds,he shot three woodcock on the second drive, and very rarely missed after that.
Great day, good lunch and excellent company....

Wow...sounds like a blast! What do you do with all the birds?

What country is it that you are hunting in?

Some are bought by game dealers who sell to supermarkets. We all take a brace home. The shoot is in the English Lake District,Nr Scotland.

I'm of to a pheasant shoot just south of Stockholm on Sunday to work the spaniel. Three weeks ago they shot 246 pheasants. A great day. The spaniel was a bit hot to start with but after the first drive he settled down and worked very well. One of the picker ups dogs caught a chicken that had been liveing wild. It had the longest spurs I've ever seen.
