So been Loading Nothing but 115gr Bullets for my XDM9 and Ruger SR9c...

Mostly Plated Berry's, and a bunch from Falcon Bullets and RMR Bullets... well saw some 124gr plated rd Nose for $87/1000 yesterday at RMR so I ordered some.. and They actually Shipped Same day... SAWEET!!!

Been Mainly using Tightgroup at 4.2gr for my 115gr and really like It....

Looks like that would be a decent starting spot for the new 124gr pills as well... Some Books show 4.2gr as a max and some show 4.4gr as max...

So i will do a few ladder Rounds once they land Next week... maybe 3.8 and 4gr as well as some at 4.2gr....

whooo hooo More loading development...:D

Now since I have not shot any 124gr Bullets..... whats the biggest Difference vs the 115gr???

Cant wait to try them out

I use RMR 124 gr Plated myself. They shoot great and I have put about 5k through my barrel. I use these rounds for my Steel Challenge competitions. The extra weight helps out a ton against the steel targets especially the ones you have to spin or knock down the big targets with.

I push them with Universal Clays and Longshot powder and use FMJ amounts and have never had a problem.

I loaded Berry's 124gr bullets over 3.8gr of Titegroup and got a very nice shooting (and LIGHT shooting) load. I currently have a few hundred loaded up with TG, but I'm using HP-38 now since it meters much better with my Lee AutoDisk.

Really primalmu... i use W231 for all my .38s and light .357 and TG for all my 9mm... and they meter almost the same... and I also use the lee Autodisk

hmmm

I just checked, I swear they Almost look the same.... maybe its a Volume issue and Not a Powder issue

Good info m2oore... i am hoping ta start doing some Competitions soon myself... Been doing some training lately and Figured I'd try some heavier Bullets

124's are my favorite 9mm bullet weight. I like mine over ZIP for super soft-shooting plinking rounds.

Before you jump to 4.2 gr. which should be max with Titegroup in any manual, try 4.0 gr with an OAL of 1.135" with RMR's 124 gr RN plated bullets.
I think you'll find it is the most accurate shooting load you'll find. I have an SR-9 full sized and it loves them to the tune of 1"groups at 10 yrds.
That's me shooting offhand, unsupported, standing. I'd love to see what that round would do out of a Ransom Rest.

Why would you think the charge you use for 115 would be a good place to start with a heavier bullet? Heavier bullets require less powder, not more.

I found the most accurate load for me was 3.6 Titegroup with an Xtreme 124 HP.

They do look close

Hodgdon actually has load data for plated 9mm bullets under BERB (Berry's Bullets). It lists 4.1 gr as max charge for longer 1.150" OAL so if you are using shorter OAL, I would use 4.0 gr as max charge for plated RN bullets - http://www.hodgdonreloading.com/data/pistol
124 gr Berry's HBRN-TP Titegroup OAL 1.150" Start 3.6 gr (957 fps) 27,700 PSI - Max 4.1 gr (1,057 fps) 32,700 PSI

Berry's 124 gr HBRN-TP plated bullet at 1.135" produced good accuracy at 3.8/4.0 gr - http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?p=7266869#post7266869

I only shoot my hand loads in all calibers now and prefer 124 gr. flat noses for target and SD in 9mm. My pet load uses Berry's 124 gr. plated flat nose bullet over 4.8 gr. of Unique and OAL is 1.12

Love my 124 gr. 9mm.

VooDoo

I think Ya need ta read my Original post a bit more:)... i'm not going from 115gr to 147gr;)... and still not above max anyways... ;)

GREAT pic as ALWAYS bds... you Rock... they look so Similar, yes W231 has a few more Smaller Grains, but For me, they meter The same...Love em both

Im Thinking the 3.8gr and 4.0gr will be Great..... Not really Needing a BIG pop Round... have my .357 for that:D

So for ease of Loading... Thinking I will end Up somewhere between 3.8 and 4.1gr so i can save time swaping disks in my lee pro 1000 system....... That way I can Load the 115gr and the 124gr and Not change the Disks... I did really Like the 4.0gr 115gr Loads... but the 4.2gr seemed a Bit better......

that Said... I think the 124gr Bullets will be the ticket... so Changing wont even be an issue when its all said and Done..

Almost finished loading the last Berry's 115gr pills.... that leaves about 300 Falcon 115gr RD Points left, GREAT accurate Bullet my Favorite so far.... but Since the RMR 115gr Rd point I have loaded in the past where awesome.... i assume the 124gr will be the Ticket..

Next week is gunna be a BLAST....:D

I found the most accurate load for me was 3.6 Titegroup with an Xtreme 124 HP.
Hmmm

May try that as well wlkjr...... 3.6 may be a Nice Round for the heavier Bullet

thanks.... i appreciate that info....

UPDATE

3.6gr to 4.2gr Ladder tests.... HECK YA.... More Chrono Time... YA BABY!!! ;)

Wow its 8pm..... where did the day Go:D oh ya.... Enjoying my Hobby:p

I shoot a couple Berry's 124 Gr bullets

RNFB DS 4.0 grains Titegroup and 1.150 OAL

HBFP - 4.0 grains Titegroup and 1.065 OAL

These are shot in my CZ 75 Phantom. I spend a lot of time on this load and it works very well for me. It is accurate and mild on the recoil I believe.

Holly Molly Batman...

My bullets from RMR are Landing TODAY... Now THATS quick Shipping

whoo hooo

Ok.... Time ta get SERIOUS:D

USPS should land around 1:30... So Im gunna get some Powder Drops Dialed

Gunna be a Fun Day.... Probobly do about 20rds of 3 different loads..

3.6gr
3.8gr
4.0gr
I may try 5 or so at 4.2 after I shoot the above 3 and see where they Chrono At... but thinking 3.8 to 4.0gr will be the Ticket...

Thanks again for the Great input guys...... Love this part of Shooting/reloading

Now where is my mad Scientist Smock and Glasses at:evil:

Don't forget the accuracy portion. That the most important aspect to me as long as it's a safe load.

I load 9mm using 124gr Berry's HBRN-TP bullets and 4.2gr. Titegroup. They work well in all of my 9mm pistols and are accurate and clean. OAL of 1.125. Very good load.

So got all my Test loads Done for Tuesday

All Tightgroup and the new RMR 124gr RN Bullets

25 3.6gr
25 3.8gr
25 4.2gr

With the Lee disks they go from .32 to .34 to .37... So cant get anything between 3.8gr and 4.2gr.... I do have a few Lee Disks ( just checked i have 4 of the small ones) so i may try and Tap out the .34 to a BIT larger ta get at the 4.0gr area... But Ill see how these shoot 1st:D

Going to Chrono Groups of 10 2x and See how they shoot for accuracy as well...

Should be a fun Desert Range day Tuesday.. We just got a LOT of Rain yesterday here in AZ, 1st rain in 70 days... and should be back to 80deg on Tuesday... perfect for some Time out at the Range

So after some messing around... I Modified a lee Disk, .34, to throw a Consistent 4.0gr of TG

Drill Bit... Xacto Blade... Fine Sandpaper and some Dryer Sheets.....

So Now for some 4.0gr Test Bullets as well

Oh ya

That's what I used to do, take extra disks and make custom sized holes.

Now, just with a drill bit and a brass screw, you can make infinitely adjustable disk hole with this mod for around $1 - http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=741988

Ive seen That... But DUNT have a Screw that was usable for Today

For sure keep that in Mind when i hit Home Depot the Next Trip

:D

So what a Great day at the desert Range today... had such a Good Time....

Am really liking the IDPA style Drills... ubber fun and am learning A LOT about my Guns and The Nut behind them

So got all Setup at about 9:15... 64deg.. pretty Nice...

So then i started testing the new 124gr 9mm Loads..... was lazy and didnt pull out the Chrono so just went by feel... Accuracy at 10yds and Accuracy at 20yds

Again all with Tightgroup powder all Standing and a Fairly rapid 6 shot group... But also tried for Accuracy NOT Speed...

All rounds at 10yds... Only shot 1 round of 6 shots at each powder load
3.6gr Rounds
very Good Group Was pretty happy.. sub 3" group
IMG_20140304_101921_015_zpszftzbwk3.jpg

3.8gr Rounds
Added the paper Plate.. easy ta see
Good Group as well... Closer to a 4" Group
IMG_20140304_102911_896_zpsohbphvyc.jpg

4.0gr Rounds
Best group yet... Aprox a 2" Group....
IMG_20140304_103546_799_zpsmytpy0ku.jpg

4.2gr Rounds
Had 1 flyer by Shooter.. Besides that a Great group.. without Flyer Aprox 2" group.. maybe a Shade over
IMG_20140304_104006_392_zpszxybmdme.jpg

So then I moved to 20yds.... HOLLY COW... i Sucked..
At 1st all Rounds where Terrible.... Then i started relizing the SHOOTER was the issue... i would PULL the Rounds... So I started Slowing Down and Focusing on my Target Accisition and trigger work... and Things Tightened up a lot.

I was frustrated so didnt take Pics... but Once i got slowed Down... I was Pretty happy

20yd Shots
3.6gr... Just think it's a too soft of Round... never could get any decent group with them at long range

3.8gr... Things really Tightened up with these. shot 3x at 20yds and was real happy with the Rounds and the Shooter

4.0gr... Again... Possible the Best Rounds.. really close between the 3.8gr and 4.0gr Rounds... had one sub 3" Group with this one

4.2gr... Think it may be too much powder... Similar as the 3.6gr rounds.. they just seemed all over the place....

Additional Things i learned
A..... my XDM9 has a stiffer trigger and the Forward Sight i painted orange may not be the ticket... changing back to white front sight paint....
B..... the Ruger SR9c seems ta be a nicer trigger and the Sights seem a bit easier to accuire....

based on the above two findings... Next Range trip i am going to test between the two guns what one is Most accurate and my better Competition Pistol....

Fun day for sure.... need ta load some More 125gr 9mm in 4.0gr and 3.8gr for testing
