What am I doing wrong? I use walnut shells and corn cob in my Lyman vibrator with Nu Polish car wax. Nice gold cases come out extremely clean, but the gold color has turned to a dull yellow. I found an old ammo can that had cleaned. 45 ACP brass in it that I cleaned back in the 1980s that were that really nice gold color so I was doing it right at one point. I'm too old to switch to a different method, just prefer the gold color over the yellow color. Any advice?

I still do dry walnut… like you, I’m too old to change. I used to use Midway polish, but they quit selling it, so now I use Dillon polish. Works well.

Understand your dilemma.

Of note, when using walnut or corn (or other dry media), there is a residue left on the brass. This dry media residue, ends up in your dies, press, etc.

I would think any brass polish you could get would work well. Just pour it in and let it mix and let the amonia evaporate out before putting brass in. Lots have had good luck with Brasso. You will get a better shine with corn cob media but it takes longer for mine to clean compared to using crushed walnut. I have gone to wet tumbling, then polishing finished ammo in corn cob media with NuFinish for 15 minutes before storage now. Looks better than factory LOL.

Another good one. I never tried the various car washes. I guess Turtle Wax is the closest I've come but that was a long time ago and it was the straight up liquid wax, not the rinse. I'm not even sure they make paste or liquid wax anymore since the rinses came out. (???)
