good .223 powder for a Rookie

When I first started handloading I purchased 1 pound each of three (3) pistol powders. I thought I could make ammo for the rest of my life with all that powder. Well it didn't take long to discover that at the time powder was scarce and my shooting activity dramatically increased. A pound of powder and 1000 primers is really nothing.

So, it is hard to predict what will happen in the market for handloading components. Once you determine what components you like I highly recommend that you lay in store a supply little by little. Every week or so I buy something, a pound of powder, a brick of primers a box of bullets. It all adds up and if things become scarce again I can keep on shooting. Be prepared.
