A good .41 Magnum load for plinking and bowling pin shooting, can be made by loading any 215 grain LSWC bullet over enough Unique to drive it at around 1,000 feet per second. I've used Remington and Winchester Large Pistol primers to make these.

This load almost duplicates the velocity of the original .41 Magnum "Police Load," (210 grain LSWC at 900 fps.) and is fairly easy on both shooter and gun.

Any good loading manual should have a recipe.

IMNSLE

I have found Hodgdon Universal Clays to offer: similar accuracy; similar velocities; considerably less soot; considerably easier metering.
Perfect.

Many choices

Clays, American Select (alliant), and AA #5 will all give you a very accurate load in that velocity range. AA #5 meters the best, Am Select is probably the cleanest. Clays is the most versatile.

Does anyone have a good .41 load for a carbine?

I have a Marlin lever carbine on the way. I plan to start with the loads I have, but has anyone made specific loads for a carbine?
