I had the itch for a new handgun and seeing as how I don't own a 1911 yet I decided to take a look today. The local shop was having a sale on Kimber 1911's so I put money down on a Tactical Pro II. It's a beautiful pistol with the grips and all the other goodies.

Anybody have comments on how these perform? Anything I should be aware of?

I do wish you good luck. However, I feel I should point out that Kimber series II pistols, especially those shorther than 5" seem to have a lot of, shall we say "feed issues". You may want to do some research here and on the 1911forum. My personal experience is that if you get a good Kimber, you have a very nice gun. However, if you get one with reliability problems, it will probably never be 100%. And don't buy that 500 round "break in" crap the Kimber enthusiasts will start spouting. If it's not reliable from the box, it has issues.

Greeting's All-

I sell a lot of Kimber's, and the Tactical series are certainly good sellers.
As they say, any stock 1911 is likely to have issues (feeding/ejecting)
during the break in period. And there are lots of reasons for this type
of problem; but thats another thread. I suggest to clean and lubricate
Kimbers after each 100 rounds; especially for the first 500 rounds. Try
this before you get discouraged with your new Kimber, and if it don't
work return it too Kimber for warranty work; or seek professional help
from a qualified gunsmith.

I have been reading some of the post here on Kimber pistols. :what: I always thought that Kimber made some of the best 1911 models out there but maybe not anymore. :( I'm still going to buy it and put it through it's paces, guess I'll be a guinea pig.

If it does turn out to be a turd after a couple thousand rounds I'll definately replace it.
