Jenny and I went to the range this evening to unload a box of .38 Special through the S&W Model 19. Christmas has me extremely low on funds so I can't afford any ammo right now and I had em laying around. Jenny's also been thinking about gettin an Airweight so I wanted her to get a feel for the trigger pull of a DA revolver and get a rough estimate as to the recoil of the .38, although it'll be much rougher using an Airweight. I also had the P3AT on me which we put a few spare rounds through. We both forgot how unpleasant it is to shoot that little bastard.
For reference, the range we go to requires targets to be fully extended to the backstop which is 50 feet, or 16.6 yards. The first time we went she hit the paper a few times but was pretty unhappy about her performance, despite me telling her accuracy takes time. We also didn't know she's right handed but left eye dominate so she was shooting right handed with her right eye.
This time was totally different. We tried her shooting left eye/left hand and it made an incredible difference. Her first six shots with the Model 19 were on the paper, and she's never shot it before. This is her second time ever firing a gun. Needless to say this boosted her confidence just a bit and she had a great time. She doesn't think revolvers are turds anymore
I, on the other hand, didn't do so well. I couldn't hit anything I aimed for tonight. I was wondering what the #@#@ was goin on then I look at the sights. The rear sight was all the way to the left! I adjusted it back to center, then it shot high. Adjusted it down and it was damn near dead on, which made me very happy.
All in all a good day at the range, Jenny wanted me to share with you guys. I can't wait till I get the Springfield Loaded she just bought me and a couple cases of .45!
