I went to the range today. I took a Marlin 336 and my Savage 10FPLE. Both needed to be zeroed. I started with the Marlin (brand new) scoped with a Simmons Aetec. I got it zeroed and shot a sweet 5 shot group 1/4 off the ten ring and all 5 shots connected. Then I switched to the .308 to zero it with it's new scope. I started low and left barely on the paper and by the 5th shot the reticle went from fine duplex to fine x. At first I thought I left the mounts loose, but then realized the scope was loose inside. So the Aetec is on the Savage rifle and the 336 is back to iron sights the way God intended. On the up side the 336 is surprisingly accurate. Unfortunately I'm not sure of the .308 zero because I ran out of ammo before I could check it with a rested group.
Anyone interested in a 6-24x50 spotting scope w/fine x reticle?
