I'm looking to purchase my first hi-cap autoloader and I've come across a Glock 22 Generation 1 for $375 out the door. It shows some holster wear, but it appears to lock up up tight. It has Trijicon night sights, however I don't know if those things dim and need replaced over time.

My question is does $375 sound like a good deal?

Trijicon sights have a 12 year illumination warranty but can be replaced for (IIRC) $15/lamp installed.

$375 isn't a stellar deal if you figure in sight replacement and probable preventative maintenance but it isn't unusually high either. Only you can decide if it's worth it or not.

I'm more enthusiastic about it than Skyler is. If you want a G22, I'd recommend you buy that one.

Gen 1 would have an unsupported chamber correct?

Many of my loading manuals warn against reloading for guns with unsupported chambers. Obviously only a concern if you reload.

I'm not sure if I would want a Gen 1, but a Gen 3 police trade in would be around that price too. It would also likely have night sights that aren't too old. FWIW last week I bought a almost brand new ("pristine with 9 rounds fired" and I believe the guy) Glock 17 Gen 3 for $400 :D

It doesn't say your location in your profile info, but the Michigan State Police upgraded all their Glocks to gen 4's recently and are running a sale on their 40 cal glocks (Model 21?) I think they were around that price.

IMHO it's a terrible deal.

It is relatively easy to find used Gen3 Glock 22's for that price or lower.

$315-$325 is the most recent cheapest price on G22s I can remember (summit gunbroker). I believe they were 2nd generation. Figure +$20 shipping +$20 transfer. Not too far off. However, a 1st gen is worth less IMO. If it had a brand spanking new set of night sights on it, that would be an okay deal at best. If it comes with more than two mags, figure extra mags are worth maybe $10-$15 each for regular capacity.

One thing to note, is that Glock did improve the chamber support on the later 40 caliber guns. The early model 22s are what made the Glock Kaboom famous (an assist goes to Federal on that one).

I prefer 2nd gen glocks over 3rd/4th gens. I have a 2nd gen Detroit PD G22, and a Maryland State PD 2nd Gen Glock 23. Both have been tip top.

I wouldn't hesitate to buy one of those 2nd gens in the above post from Bud's. Specially since they come with 3 mags.
