How much is one in excellent shape worth? I've had one offered to me with 6 mags, a box of ammo, a serpa holster and a double mag carrier for 350.

Is that a good deal?

Good price. Borders on steal. Those mags will cost you $40 a piece new from S&W. Best deal I've seen on them was $12 at CDNN and I don't even know if they still have them. The gun and the mags are well worth the price by themselves ($400 would be a good price for that combo IMO). Ignore the value of the holster and mag pouch unless you like the equipment, then the added value is probably around $60. So, yeah, regardless, it's a good price for an excellent 4006. These guns are built like tanks and will last forever if you maintain it decently (new recoil springs and so on). With all the .40s blowing up these days, I don't recall ever seeing a report of a S&W 3rd generation all steel .40 doing it.

In case you guys are wondering-

I'm smart enough to know what I don't know. And I don't know squat about S&W semi-autos. So I came here to the experts.

The first gun ever made for .40 S&W.

Sidearm of the California Highway Patrol since its inception (the gun's, not the CHP's)

All stainless steel (as indicated by the model number ending in "06"), so it will be pretty heavy. But major components are nearly unbreakable.

S&W autos I own or have owned have always been 100% reliable, no malfunctions ever.

Many people dislike the slide-mounted safety and magazine disconnect safety. I get around the first - by carrying safety off and just using it for a decocker - and the second is benign.

In the condition you describe, the $350 even with the two 11-round magazines it normally comes with would be a decent deal. With the extra mags and holsters it is a steal.
