Post em here please...

In Pelham New Hampshire, I shop at Collector's Firearms and Militaria, and Affordable Firearms. I've never had a problem there, there very nicely priced, and have a somewhat large selection of holsters, long guns, and handguns. I noticed after I started doing business with them on a regular basis my prices on items started going down:D

Pete's Gun and Tackle, in Hudson NH. This is a mom and pop operation, run by pretty nice people. I've never had a problem with em. They do have a nice selection of reloading items, holsters, belts, rifle cases, rifles, and shotguns:D

Hickman Rifles- Colorado Springs Colorado. Right inside the front door are his dealer catalogs. Just find what you want, pay Earl $15 for the ffl transfer, and get a great deal!:D

I would have to recommend Barber's Gun shop in Perkiomenville, Pa. Chuck Barber is a very friendly individual and will give you very fair prices on any firearm and will work with you on any special order. His lovely wife Kim is very helpful and pleasant to deal with also. Chuck attends most of the gunshows in Eastern Pa, so look for him and say hi.

Nashmack, try Al's Rod and Reel in Derry. Everyone I talked to thought he was expensive, but they had the lowest price on my PPK/S of the places in Bow and Hooksett by at least $30.00 in 1 case and $100.00 in another!

Ken Crane sporting goods in Ridley Township PA. Great dude. In general I dislike the gunshops in my area. Crummy selection and way overpriced. I ran across him while looking for a local dealer of a particular brand of gun. I not only bought the gun but spent about an hour just shooting the bull with him. He's close to retirement and has limited hours but catch him when you can. Decent prices and all around nice guy. He even opened up the shop just to accomodate me.:)

Old4x4, I routinely do open paper routes in Derry, would you happen to know offhand what street it's on?

Found a rare Sig

One of the gunstore in my area is part of an Army/Navy store and the clerks are semi-knowlegeable college students (I live in a college town). It has been my experience that many clerks in college town gunshops tend to think they know far more about guns than they actually do.

Here's the story:

One day I was in this store looking around and I saw a factory refurbished Sig P239. As I was looking for a nice compact carry gun I took a look at it and fell in love with the feel of it instantly then I noticed a barcode ingraved on the slide. The sales clerk said that the barcode was a new feature that is being offered on all new Sig firearms. I didn't bother to try haggling with him, I reached for my wallet and threw down the five bills they were asking for the gun. Then once the sale had begun my friend informed him that he was mistaken about the barcode. A magazine article on a Dept. of Homeland Sercutiy deal with Sig did say all new Sigs would have a barcode but this was retracted as a misprint. The barcode was an internal tracking device for DHS guns only. Here is where the gun gets even more rare. The only guns that DHS approved was the DAO models but the one I have is a DA/SA model. This leads me and my friend to believe that my gun must have some how been a Testing and Evaluation gun used by DHS while they were negotiating the deal. (But back to the gun store story) I completed the sale but was called by the owner a couple days later to come back in and correct and error made on the form 4473. When I came back in I asked if they had any more barcoded Sigs. The owner gave me a real "you got us" look and said she heard about that would be on the lookout for any more such guns in the future.

In OKC OutdoorAmericaStore is a fun place to just browse and if it's not too busy shoot the breeze with the counter guys (there's a few there that will). Wide selection of firearms, archery equipment, and clothing. With the exception of the guys :cuss: that work the COP Shop section (I think they figure out who the a'holes are and put 'em in there) all the other employees are pretty friendly and fairly knowledgeable.

Too bad that can't be said about the rest of the gun shops in OKC.

All the negative experiences I read about make me appreciate the store I have close to home - City Arms, in Pacifica, CA. Like everyone, their knowledge has limits. But they really make an effort to understand what you need / want, make the best recommendation they can, and happily order what you want, even if it is not what was suggested. The owners are very good about taking time to show you different guns, and are pleasant people to spend time with. Pretty competitive prices too. Recommended.

Nashmack, here's the address: Al's Gun & Reel Shop Inc
5 Linwood Avenue, Derry, NH 03038
(603) 432-2708
Get off of of exit 4 (rt 93). Go toward Derry, past the gas stations, he's on the left, up Linwood ave (75 yds). The small shop is attached to his house. Probably why his prices are good. His overhead is low.
He's closed Mondays and Tuesdays, which means my PPK/S will probably be in on Wed. Can't wait!

Ozark Armory in Springdale Arkansas is where I do all my buying. I shop around all over the place and then go buy from them. lol...

Nice folks and they really know their stuff. But it's real hard going in to just Look without something jumping out at you and wanting to go home with you... :p

Funny Gun Shop Story! Several years ago I was in a gun shop in Mobile Alabama (Hal's gun Shop-now long gone, but it was a great shop with a nice old fellow who loved to talk guns) they had a in house gun smith who did real good work. I was talking to Hal and the gunsmith came in and said he was going to fire a few rounds to test a pistol he was working on, there were several customers in the shop & everyone said ok and the gunsmith went back into the back of the store. Just then a rookie cop came in the front door and everyone said hello but no one said anything about what the gunsmith had just said. Well the cop was looking around and then from the back we heard 3 shots. The next thing we know the cop is hiding behind a rack in the middle of the store with his gun drawn and looking at us like we are crazy. After we all stopped crying we let him in on the joke and he had a good laugh too. I'll never forget the look on his face, every time I remember this story I have to smile. I wonder what would happen today (this happened 30 years ago) if this same thing happened. Hell they'd have a swat team rolling in no time. rugerman

Duncan's Gun Works in San Marcos, California (Escondido area) is a classy organization.

I live about 700 miles from the store, and when I personally took the stock of an English-built .404 Jeffery rifle to them for a new recoil pad, they gave me an enormous surprise. It was just after opening time on a Saturday morning, and when they found that I was far from home and would have to have them ship the stock to me, they offered to do the job and have it ready for pickup that VERY SAME AFTERNOON!

Now, that is service with a capital "S". I took the stock to them because I know the superb-quality work which comes out of their shop, and I care a lot about that rifle. Due to scheduling conflicts, I was unable to take their kind offer of same-day delivery, and the stock arrived safely home a week later via UPS.

Drop in and see them...it's well worth even a couple hours' drive, if need be.

J&P Sporting Goods in my home town... West Branch, Michigan

If he ain't got it, he will order it ASAP, he'll hold stuff for me, with only a phone call, he'll call me about things he thinks i might want, he prices stuff reasonably...

Maybe that's why i buy most of my guns, ammo, and accessories from him..

Gun Broker in Clackamas, OR

When I first wanted to get back into the handgun game I went to every gun dealer within 50 miles. Checking prices, getting a feel for the politeness of the owners/employees, and gauging their willingness to be up front and educational with their customers. I have to say that I got everything I could have hoped for from the Gun Broker. Roy, Jay, and the ladies are great. They answered all my questions. Sometimes to the point of over education. They never looked down on me for asking a question and treated me like a valued customer from the start. Didn't hurt that they had prices as good or better than everywhere else. I have bought eight firearms from them in the last 2 months because of this treatment.

Winfree's Cigarettes & Guns - Rte 17 Grafton, Va

I'm sure I've posted about this place before.

Front half is a tobacco store, and the back half is guns.
I spend as much time and money there as I can.

My wife calls it "That freaky side door to hell"

The Bullet Trap in Plano, TX. I bought my first pistol there (well, the first one that wasn't given to me), I did my CHL there, and I visited them on Wednesday for a new gun. I take newbie friends there to buy guns and I patronize their range whenever I can. The staff is a bunch of real friendly guys who laugh and joke and are a real pleasure to do business with. They are the best I've found in the Dallas area. Their prices are competitive, but I'll happily spend extra bucks at their store just because of the people.

Thanks old4x4, I know right where you're talking about, I meant to stop in there but I fergot completely about it, thanks for reminding me:D

Haven't seen any posts praising Cabela's. Kind of bears out my experience too. I've visited their gun dept. a couple times, got sticker shock quickly. Settled on a gun shop (local) about twenty miles away. Nice people, they take some time with you and the prices were very fair.

I've got two good ones near me. Shooters Paradise in Woodbridge, VA has pretty good prices and selection and a knowledgeable staff. In addition they have a range in back. Military and LE get 10% off. Virginia Arms in Manassas is also good.

Well, I guess since I posted in the bad gunshop thread I should post here too. Hogun's on Culebra in San Antonio is a great shop. Wayne stocks a lot of competition oriented stuff you don't find many places. Also has great in house smithing, real reasonable prices. Also like the Bullet Hole over near 1604&90. Great people plus you can buy and then shoot at the same place. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend either place.

Never had any problems at Cleland's Outdoor World in Swanton, Ohio.
I have purchased several handguns from them and took my CCW training course there. Very professional staff and excellent training.

I was at Virginia Arms not long after Katrina. There were quite a few people asking about firearms for home defense. One guy walked in with his SO and wanted to buy a kick-ass handgun. Upon learning that he had zero experience with firearms, the clerk kindly suggested he consider a .22LR first. The guy was mightily offended.

BTW, I do consider this a positive experience. Many gunshops would have sold whatever the customer wants.

I have had very good experiences at the Sportman Warehouse in Colorado Springs. My wife who is relatively new to shooting asks a million questions of the guys behind the counter. They show her any and everything she wants to see and fully explains how the weapon works. Their prices are very good and I must say that the service has been great...

hkmp5g17, Where is Hickman Rifles??

Best Gun Shop in Connecticut

To all Connecticut residents: The best gun store is D'andreas Gun Case in Milford ( formerly in Stratford until last month). Best store around. The owner, Mr. D'Andrea, is a very cool, Italian guy and all the guy's he has there know their sheit. They almost know too much. It's got to be the biggest gun store in this state and the selection is awesome. This is the place to check out first if your looking for a gun or gear.
