snowdog - that UC9 is a good looking gun

what finish are both of those? are they redone? or is it the light hitting them making them look so shiny?

Thanks tbutera2112, I don't think the UC9 is particularly hard on the eyes either.

Both are stock, just have a bit of oil left over after a cleaning giving them a bit of a glossy look.

For the price the Ruger P95 can't be beat. I've had one for 8 years now without a SINGLE malfunction. I own 3 other 9mm's (Walther, SIG, and S&W M&P) and if complete and utter reliability was the concern, I'd give the nod firmly to the Ruger.

The tradeoff that you do make is in ergonomics (it's not that comfortable in the hand), and to some degree accuracy (no problem admitting that it's not a tack driver, but it's passably accurate).

For right around $300 it's the best bet in a NEW handgun. If you're willing to shop used, than that's another matter. You can probably get guns that are better in some categories for the same price used, and they might bas AS reliable, but I don't think you'll find one that's MORE reliable.

+1 for the Bersa, I love both my 9UC and 380CC, never a problem with either of them:

If price is an issue, the P95 Ruger is a fine home defense gun..

and it is built like a tank and can take hotter loads than other pistols that cost more. I have seen them at gun shows NIB for $289. A step above at about $400 is the Ruger SR9. I have both and like them. The P95 can be handled easily by women too as the slide is very easy to rack --has a 11 pound recoil spring. For all around home defense it is hard to beat for the low price. It eats everything I feed it.
