I don't go to too many indoor ranges these days, but one just opened up down the road from me and I thought I'd share....
The Gun Shack, near Powell's Point NC (on HWY 168 headed towards the Outer Banks) started posting a while back about their indoor range. When it finally opened a week or so ago, I managed to pull a kitchen pass to check it out.
Brand spanking new with either 20 or 25 yard (can't remember - I was shooting at ten yards) shooting lanes. At present, you have to buy their ammo (insurance purposes), but they are working on allowing other ammo. Range fees were $20 and targets were provided.
I shot 100 rounds of PMC .380 (which were roughly $20 a box) at a few targets. Military discount as well brought the total price down a bit. The coolest part was when I kept hitting slightly left at ten yards. I brought my Glock 42 to the guy at the counter (yeah, yeah, unloaded, slide locked back, no mag, etc..) and asked if he adjust the sight. He then asked if he could shoot it.
From there, he grabbed some ammo and shot a real nice centered group. Rather than the typical attitude and telling me I'm jacked up, he said he could adjust it a bit, which he did FOR FREE. I was shooting center mass after that.
I've been rather discouraged from indoor shooting ranges for some time now, but this place turned me around a bit. I'll definitely be back.
If you're in the area, or headed to the outer banks this summer via hwy-168, it's worth a go.
