I am looking to move up from reloading 223 and pistol calibers to either (not decided, but leaning to 270) 30.06 or .270. Where is a good source for brass? thanks

New or used? Graf normally has a good supply of brass in these calibers if looking for new. If used (once fired), check the classifieds here on this site. I've bought lots of once fired brass from folks here and have yet to be disappointed in any dealings.

Can't help with that (although 30-06 is a military size so there is lot of once fired cases on eBay and other places) but for 223 the best place I've found is to participate in a 3 gun competition. After the local comp the range is filthy with brass and nobody to rake it up except me ;). I spent 20$ to join the comp, and left with 200$ worth of brass!

My favorites are Powder Valley Inc, Midway USA, Mid South Shooters, Sinclair International, Brunoshooters, and Gaff's. Not in any order. Midway has monthly specials and Sinclair has Christmas specials. Usually, you can find what you want at one of the above.

Join the Civilian Marksmanship Program and buy some Greek HXP 30-06 surplus ammunition.

Currently, I think it is priced a little more than new factory cases and you get to "unload" it in the process.:)

The HXP cases are good cases.

The usual suspects for new brass as shown above. That is the way I went when I first started reloading to remove one variable at that time. Just shop around for the deals and don't forget to factor in shipping.

For used brass I have gleaned a fair amount over the years from the local ranges and gravel pits. Other shooting acquaintances find out that I reload and save their brass for me as well. Or just buy factory ammo and shoot it so you know the history of it. I often trade what I do not use with other for something I can use. For calibers (like 500 S&W. 32 short) that are not common unlike the brass I find that are just left on the ground for me to pick up I have found great deals from the trading post on here as well if you keep checking for a while. If you are not in a hurry to get a big stock of used brass it should be easy.

One more option is Everglades Ammo @ www.evergladesammo.com they sell military brass in 5.56x45 with the crimped primer pockets. They may be higher than some places but the brass comes cleaned and ready for resizing, trimming, swaging the primer pockets. I have several thousand stashed back and they always add extra to make up for the occasional unusable case. They also ship for free. They have most common rifle and pistol brass, they also sell bullets but sometimes you can find those cheaper elsewhere. Just my 2 cents worth. Also the shipping is super fast.

I can provide you with excellent once-fired .30-06 or .308 brass. I process brass for a Type 6 FFL, and I get to keep a portion of the brass that is sent to me for processing.
