good tos ee ITHACA GUN back in business again. Now being made 100% in sandusky, Ohio. Sure looks top quality to me, not going to be cheapin price, Around $800 plus but this pump IMO is even better finished than when Ithaca made them in NY. Look for a 28 gauge ithaca pump by years end, so they told me at the NRA convention. Their deerslayer pump, to me looks to be the finest and most accurate slug shotgun ever to surface. We sold thaca's back in the early 60's for $99.95. To me still one of the finest made American shotguns ever made. A shame they could not compete in todays competitive market..

The old Ithaca could have probably done better than they did. I think their business model got all discombobulated back years ago already, and they didn't know what the hell they were doing. The guns they made, and the guns they imported were good guns. The SKB's have gone on to success as Weatherbys and SKB's; the lever guns became Henrys. Their old trap guns are still in demand -- for using, not just for hanging up on the wall.

I have not yet been able to hold a new Ohio Ithaca. I've heard they should be a good deal nicer than recent 37's were.

That said, I'm still not entirely sure what they're doing. I hope, for their sake, there's really a market for pumps that sell for $800 and up, even though they are gorgeous.

Then I'd love to see them go back to making real shotguns, the kind with two barrels. IMO there's more room in the marketplace for quality American-made break-actions. Okay, there's LOTS of room, if they get made. And if they can bring back the wonderful old Ithaca trap singles in some form starting under 2 grand, I think they could do quite well with them.
